90% of the current Cowboy players have only been around the past two seasons or so. They have had nothing to do with the Cowboys two decades of ineptitude.
They don’t deserve to carry the baggage of a past they had nothing to do with. And they can’t control who owns or coaches.
I root for the players...and when I look at recent history I see a team that’s gone 22-10...and 0-1 in the playoffs...a game they lost in the last play of the game. Not elite, but pretty darn good. And there is a lot to suggest the team is getting better.
The relative age of the players is irrelevant. Players operate in short windows now and smart franchises realize that.
Team leadership determines what a standard is.
Today's NFL is pretty much like a college football program. If the program is not solid, you get disjointed results.
If the figureheads of the franchise, the constants like the Jones family, make excuses after failure, some kid coming aboard is going to react accordingly.
