IF and a strong IF, the FO has any sense that they unlikely sign DLaw to a long-term deal, this is worth considering if the Jets offered two 1st round picks. A strong crop of DLs projected in 2019 draft......

The Jets are in the market for a pass rusher.

Mike Maccagnan said so on ESPN Radio’s Humpty & Canty on Wednesday, making it clear that obtaining an edge or outside linebacker is on his mind.

“There’s trade opportunities that kind of pop themselves up,” the general manager said. “We’re looking at any opportunity to kind of make ourselves better. And that’s a position that we’re focused on.”

So, who could the Jets target?

The first name to jump to mind is the Oakland Raiders’ Khalil Mack, who already has 40.5 sacks in his short NFL career.

Depends...

It took the Cowboys a 2nd & 3rd rounders to move up to draft D-LAW, then several more years to develop him into a 14+ sack/year monster. D-LAW barely turned 26 years old in April, which means his best years are still to come. He should be among the league's best pass rushers arguably for the next 5 years at a minimum.

It's not very smart to trade him, even for two future 1st round picks if you can't guarantee that either one of those 1st round picks could develop into a 14 sack/year left pass rushing DE. Too much of a risk in my opinion, unless D-LAW and his agent decide to try to rob the bank throughout the season in negotiations for his next longterm contract.

I would trade Dlaw to the Jets for 2 first round picks all day, every day.

This is interesting coz most fans don't think he deserves a long-term deal as of TODAY but yet you're saying he's worth more than TWO first rounders.

Side note.....They're probably not interested but I'd consider Taco. It appears he's a bit lost in numbers here. Can't break the starting line-up even going into his 3rd year.

Two first round picks from the Jets would kick ***! That's like two top 5 picks. But seriously, if the Cowboys wanted two first round picks for Lawrence they could have given him A non-exclusive Franchise Tag. But I doubt any team would give that up.

Conundrum - What to do with DLaw...scared to pay him, scared to trade him.

Taco is starting his 2nd year, not his 3rd. He was a rookie last year.

Me too. But would the Jets be dumb enough to do it?

They would have to be. 2 top 15 first round picks and then pay the guy 18 million a season? They would have to be really dumb.

This is what the patriots do it. Once a guy gets really greedy they trade him away for more picks. This is how they stay good for a long time.
