To be honest how would we know are we bringing Romo back? I would be all for it but Dez has probably fallen off but he also has had Dak throwing to him for 2 seasons so its really hard to tell...

In 2016 Daks's passing numbers were a rat's hair short of Romo's in 2014, which arguably may have been Romo's best season, yet Dez didn't fare well then. And, of course, Beasley had a much bigger year in 2016 than any he had with Romo.

All this said, I'm not say Dak is as good as Romo was when Romo was healthy and at his best, but let's not act as if Dak didn't play well in 2016 or as if there were no opportunities.

Really we are going to fall back on stats. While Dak had a great 2106 season he has not been able to replicate it, in TDs, INTs, QBR or rating. If anything based on two full seasons his completions have plateaued, his attempts have gone up, comp% went down, yards per completion wen down. HIs Adjusted Net yards went in the tank last year. he dropped full 2 yards A.N.Y. per attempt. This year is not fairing much better.

We can't fall back on having watched Dez every day in practice, or any other reliable measure, so while I agree stats are not a complete picture, merely saying Dak isn't that good isn't a complete picture either. At the end of the day all we know is Dez's last high quality season was 2014, and anyone can use whatever reasons they personally choose to explain that.

I agree Dak's effectiveness dropped in 2017, but saying he hasn't been able to replicate 2016 since then seems a little skewed because it seems to suggest he has had multiple opportunities when there has only been one season since. I'm not saying he will ever replicate it, but in any case, that's not the point. The point is Dez didn't have a notable season in Dak's very good season just like he didn't in Dak's drop off season - he was average regardless of how well the QB played. Whether there are other reasons for that besides Dez losing effectiveness is a matter of opinion, and there can be varied opinions.

That would really exemplify the dysfunction of the organization.
TRUE..but look at the Raiders. They dumped Martavis Bryant after trading a 3rd round pick for him lol..THEN 10 days later signed him to a Million dollar contract. If that's not the true definition of dysfunction I don't know what is. It makes Dallas look tame in comparison. I'm sure many Raider fans are confused right now after what they did with Mack, then turning around and crapping the bed against the Rams in Supreme fashion. Gruden or not...that organization has been a cesspool of dysfunction for well over 2 decades.

Did I mention Bryant may be suspended for a year? lol...THAT IS INSANITY by the FO of the Raiders and Coach Gruden. Bizarre. It would be truly Bizarre if we signed Dez. He wouldn't solve the oline issues and Daks mental block right now. Its all a matter of confidence and once Dak gets that...and gets hot, we can be very good.

But Martavis had some off the field issues. Dez on the other hand was released because he was supposedly one of the reasons the offense was having problems. That is according to the front office. "Dak won't have Dez in his ear" a quote straight from Stephen Jones. So if you brought him back it goes against the grain of the teams philosophy. It's not about the Raiders and it's not the same situation. Plus a dysfunctional jerry run football team ranks right up there with anyone. Raiders have a Super Bowl appearance in the last 2 decades.

The Cowboys tried to do the same thing with Brian Price. Releasing a player at the end of camp and then signing him after week 1 when the contract is no longer guaranteed is pretty standard practice in the NFL. A million dollars is nothing.
