Whenever “Sunday Night Football” comes to Arlington for a Cowboys game, it’s always a strange odyssey watching how many times Al Michaels talks about “the Jones family as super heroes”, or how many times he lauds Junior Odell Beckham and the most overrated catch in NFL history. Or how many times he raves about something else so completely unimportant in hushed tones.

So...in tonight’s key matchup, what’s the over/under for these strange Al Michaels talking points:
  • Mentions and video shots of the Gene Jones artwork- over/under at 4
  • Mentions and video shots of “Sky Mirror”-O/U at 1
  • Mentions and video of OBJ’s “Catch of the Century”- O/U at 2
  • Video shots of the Jones cartel owners box during game- O/U at 3
  • Video footage of Jason Garrett’s playing days- O/U at 2
  • Mentions/use of the term “Mara Family” with religious fervor- O/U at 15
  • Mentions the “Earl Thomas” potential trade- O/U at 3
I’m sure I’ve left out some other strange talking points that “Big Al” Michaels will throw down tonight. Feel free to add yours below.

BTW, I miss hearing Al Michaels say “Allen Bull” all night! LOL!

Mentioning Gene "the hammer" Jones and her artwork has been mentioned on every home game broadcast and I havent missed one in decades.

I will add there will be a spalding jones sighting that will include a high five, a mention of the jones ark qb fella (pick 6 lol), and some praise for the jones boys building the franchise to a mediocre on the field product but a multi-billion dolla entity.

Those all spot on Art, lol. The Spaulding sighting is a guarantee along with his immediate look up at monitor to see if he made it on TV.

Do we have anyone that qualifies as the "ageless one"? Sure as hell isn't Booger. I don't know what qualifies that with him but if Manning has a good night, he might use it on him.

There will be as much inane chatter about everything but what's going on down on the field as he can muster. I really do like him doing the play by play, he's among the best ever at that, but the praise heaping is really getting old. I am surprised he gets up off his knees to talk about Rodgers.

Even if Josh Gordon gets traded to another team, he will still mention that as a Cowboy connection. Thomas, of course, is a given. As should any player that gets pissed at his team today, slaps a woman around or decides to just say yes to drugs.

We need an earthquake in the Metroplex to give him something else to talk about, he does that really well.

Thank God we don't have to put up with the Victor Cruz salsa dance anymore.

I'm in the business so I'm sure you all know by now how NBC (especially their post production department) has taken subtle shots at us for years in the promo's and lead ins. Of course this is to be expected since much of their crew is from and went to school in the northeast. Their executive producer Fred Guadelli is a life long Giants fan from Long Island.

Give me an hour in an edit bay and I can make you look like either a super hero or a serial killer.

LOL! So true about the “inane chatter”. Al Michaels can talk for hours during a football game about a lot of topics not related to football. It’s like a “talk show” within a football game.

If he would turn off Collinsworth mic, then he can said whatever and won't complain...

That's why he wanted Dennis Miller on MNF with him.

What’s the O/U on how many times Collinsworth explains “route trees”?
The one thing I've not gotten is why does he always lean in the Cowboys direction? There's no connection that I know of but as long as he's been doing it, he's always seem to like the Cowboys. I wonder if he plays "Lady of the House and the Pool Boy" with Booger's old lady when he's in town?

Your over/under of shots of Jerry in the box is too low.

I'd put it at the combination of 1x #of qtrs Cowboys are leading or tied and 2x # qtrs they are losing.

Does that explain the copious amounts of video shots of the Gene Jones’ art collection?

I know this is mainly a jokey thread but the OBJ catch is not overrated. You can't overrate quite possibly the greatest catch in the history of the game, which it was by my count. You've watched football longer than I have in my nearly 40 years. Have you seen better?
