2014 was the last time Bryant was a #1 WR.

I'm not going to tiptoe around this, Dez Bryant is not the player that he was at 25 years old but he is still a good football player. With a qb like Romo, Big Ben or Rivers Dez would be a 80 catch 1200 yard 8 td wr. People said that his numbers the last 3 years proves that he fell off but I say that it proves that he didn't have a top passer throwing him the ball. Moore, Cassell, Weeden and Dak, which one is fit to be a starting qb in the NFL? None, but it just so happens that these are the guys that Dez's number are suppose to equal when Romo (Cowboys all time passing leader) was throwing him the ball.

I wouldn't have paid Dez 12 million in 2018 because I wouldn't pay Hopkins, Evans, Brown or Julio that amount either with Dak qbing he's just not that good so it is a waste of resources.

Dez can still play but with his actions after his release, the timing of his release and the Cowboys saying disparaging things about him after his release he is without a job.

I disagree about Landry, but it's a moot point.
Landry was used in Miami in lieu of the run game.
Hence the inflated catch totals.

Landry is legit. Watch him play and if he's not an elite WR, he's right on the cusp.

Great observation..despite beign the best of the best NONE have won a SB....doesn't that highlight the importance fo COACHING, STRATEGY, GAME PLANNING.....that is what gets you to a SB, not 1 or 2 elite players.......until JG is GONE and a new culture of accountability and discipline is brought in.......we are destined to be meaningless in the NFL, its already proven

Thomas has a ring.

Well, Julio and AB are on playoff teams.
Then you got guys on Garrett level teams, aka .500 and then some on Campo quality teams.

Ideally you find that #1 WR in the draft and get great value out of him on his rookie contract. Of course, you need a QB to take advantage of said #1 WR.

Really? Those teams "making the playoffs" this year?

But I will certainly agree with you that you need the quarterback. And it's a big part of my point. Even if they had Julio Jones out there, this passing game Andrew offense's would still be struggling with this scheme and coaches and this quarterback.

Changing out a receiver isn't the answer.

He's actually right about this. Romo made Dez seem like a #1 receiver, but he really wasn't.

There are only 6 in the game. Julio, AB, Hopkins, Thomas, Landry, and perhaps Beckham. No, Green isn't, if you want to count him, that's 7.

And none of those guys have won a Super Bowl.

Hopkins did not have no.1 numbers in 2016 with Osweiler. As a matter of fact, his numbers were pretty similar to Dez last year. It’s the QB.

My point was more times than not Pitt and ATL have been making the playoffs more times than not.
They might, too early to tell with some teams.

I agree with your point.

Even if that's true, it doesn't mean he was wrong. On top of that, don't you think it's kind of silly to suggest Jerry is creating a smokescreen for doing something he has done since the day he bought the team, whether in good times or bad (talking to the media).
Jerry is nothing but poor football decisions and subterfuge, his suggestion that we haven't had a #1 receiver dovetails with his stupid notion that Dak is our long-term QB (when paired with said #1 receiver). It's pretty obvious.

Yes every year he has an excuse to fall back on

It appeared to be an observation rather than an excuse. Even Jerry knows that the lack of a #1 receiver comes from the team not succeeding in finding one.

He's already laying the groundwork for Dak's excuse this year, heck he may use that one for Garrett to.

And my point is that it takes two to tango. Quarterbacks can make or break receivers. and our quarterbacking has played a key role in breaking ours.

Sadly, Jerry's comments give some insight into who, how, and why this team would have been crazy enough to have offered Sammy Watkins that kind of money.

So, you are claiming we have had a #1 WR the last few years?

This also sounds like an excuse.

Good point. I would of been less upset if we tried to go after Robinson, but the Watkins deal is still bonkers to me.

Wow!!! Stop it with the Super Romo BS. Dez came out of college with number one WR potential. Before he ever caught a ball from Romo.
But let’s put a real spin on it. TO and Witten made Romo look more like a franchise quarterback than he really was. And that’s a fact.
