Why Dak still sucks

That's a good one. How many passes did Dez drop last year that were picked off?

You mean the ones Aikman said were garbage throws like the one against Seattle in a simply drag route where Dak threw a laser and behind Dez, which Dak followed up by sailing the ball over the head on a checkdown to Zeke in the flat, right into the arms of a Seattle LB for a pick 6. Or the one he threw behind TWill that led to a pick 6 against GB, just like the one he threw to Dez. Or just the one a couple weeks back against Seattle again where he threw it to the behind, I think it was Jarwis, that ended up in the hands of Earl Thomas. Coincidence, I think not..

It’s nice your making excuses for him, but those are trends, whether with Dak or not. Production for every WR dropped with Dak and this year everybody was blaming every WR and Dez isn’t here anymore. It’s either sailing to high or behind receivers running full speed in the intermediate routes.

In the third quarter ALONE, Dak THREW it nine times and the tenth was when he broke pocket after spinning into the DT to the right, but escaped for that gain. Dak homers, as justification for the fact he couldn’t break 200 yards passing, are pinning this like the Cowboys just decided to stop passed. Dak tried PASSING around 70% of the time in third quarter and his most successful play was when he broke pocket on a three man rush, almost spinning himself into a sack.

He made one awful throw that should on the almost INT by Ramsey and the other, series when Heath put them at the Jaguars 8, he threw it twice and cane away with a field goal. The problem with the Ramsey throw was that it was right after Kaguars matched up the field and scored a TD, meaning it could have easily shifted the momentum and put it at 24-14 if they had any competent offense. The next field goal was the off worst throw in NFL history by Bortles to Heath.

Then came the fumble by the Jags and Dallas decided they had enough and ran it with Zeke pretty much every time.

The Jaguars basically adjusted after their incompetent first half and Dak was Dak. The defense also got its TOs against this garbage Jags offense that turned it over five times last week and allowed the Cowboys to pull ahead while Dak floundered passing.

The point being Dak couldn’t even break 200 yards passing when he was still TRYING.
I think the real question is:

Why do you care so much what other people think?

As for your theory, though, the game was over before halftime. At that point, the Cowboys were playing keep away.

Who cares? This is a forum where football is discussed. I’m not the one crying about why are we talking about Dak after a win.

And it’s obvious you failed to realize the point. If the Cowboys were playing keep away, why did they go pass heavy? Why did Dak throw that awful ball right to Ramsey?

So your theory is wrong. Dallas was trying to move the ball off the back of Dak’s arm, including in the red-zone, but they couldn’t. Because Dak is easy to figure out and he’s mediocre.

He needed a 3-4 YPC to net enough yards to break his Quincy Carter record in futility of not passing over 200 yard games and he couldn’t.

And apparently his “I told you so” attitude at PC after the game shows how much Dak was trying to rub it in people’s faces. But he still blew in the second half..

Good thing I kept reading. I almost missed the actual answer to my question. Thanks.

yep, he's made some bad throws, just like every QB. But he wasn't getting much help from Dez last year. Dez had a fumble and a drop (was a 5 yd curl, not a drag) that hit him right in the hands. that ball has to be caught, just like the ball that Twill dropped against GB that led to a pick 6. And the ball that hit gallup right in the hands for the first ET pick against seattle this year. These WR's are professionals and those are balls that have to be caught. Dak is by no means a perfect QB, but he looks worse than he actually is when those around him aren't doing their jobs.

Flacco , Wilson and Rivers all had impressive wins with around 200 yrds passing . Marriota , Mayfield , Alex Smith Carr Watson Dalton Cousins and the bills QBs all had 230 yrds or under Heck Marriota had 51 Carr 106 Watson 177 Alex Smith had 156 .

That's all you got Dak didn't get 200yrds It really affected the outcome of the game LOLOL Junk Thread throw this in the trash pile .

Did you just try to use Mariota (he had 117 btw, not 51), Mayfield, and Carr (He had 142, not 106) whose teams got destroyed, and the dreadful Bills as evidence?

No, not just like every other QB. This is a trend that Dak continually displays, saikingit high or behind WRs. Every WRs production drops with Dak, because he’s that inaccurate they can’t develop any timing with him.

1. The fact it was a curl makes it worse that even Aikman called it out. No, he’s not suppose to catch a laser that should have been put in front of him. Dez Is expecting it one place naturally and the pass is rocketed (Dak panics) behind him, so it’s quick reaction on Dez’s part. Even Aikman calls it out and when you look at it from behind, it’s even worse.

2. And no, sorry Dak does these mistakes continuously just like the TWill IbT. TWill turns inside off a timing route, expecting the ball there, but Dak puts it outside. Just because it hit TWill’s body doesn’t mean it’s accurate. And Aikman again calls it out.

And he did the same thing against Seattle to Jarvis I believe, which is why the balls keep bouncing up and into the hands of defensive backs, besides the fact that throw shouldn’t have even been made.

And Dak’s main problem is he doesn’t throw it when he needs to, meaning he leaves plenty of throws on the field because he pulls back and checks down, which starts frustrating WRs and they lose focus. That’s why every WR is not taking jabs at Dak, because he doesn’t throw when he’s supposed to and these guys are running full speed all game fir naught.

I don't give a damn about 200 yards passing, what I care about is being efficient with his passes. Cam Newton numbers are about the same yet he will get praise? Hell with it if Dak runs great if he is hitting his targets great and if this team is winning then to hell with all the critics. He is not Rodgers I will agree with that, he is not a pocket passer but he does bring certain traits to the table and is capable of playing at a high level.

Cam Newton has thrown for over two hundred yard twice and three hundred yards once while running RPOs heavily. The difference is Cam can actually throw downfield.

Yes, every QB has made throws just like that. On the Williams drop, do you know if he was supposed to turn inside or outside? I don't. What I do know is that it was a piss poor effort on a perfectly catchable ball.

Well, this thread has definitely proven to me that Dakota is every bit Tony''s equal in at least one category.

Let people enjoy things you bunch of whiners.

I agree, I'm not going to get into QB comparison. Dak needs to play the way he is capable of and play to his own strength. In the end this game is not played by stats it is played in terms of wins and loses. It falls to Dak to go out and do the job if he fails then Dallas likely will look to replace him and if he wins I frankly would not care what his stats show.

and Dak has had games over 200 and 300 yards. Thing is Carolina lets Cam be Cam, they are not trying to make him a pocket passer. Norv Turner adjusted to what Cam does and is not trying to make him into an Aikman. This past game Dak had 151 passing in the 1st half with a 24-0 lead so of course they were not throwing the ball much. In the end 200 or 300 does not matter if you don't win the game. Winning is what matters frankly it is the only thing that matters unless you are a fantasy football freak

Funny how the 2 biggest yardage games Cam Newton has had this year 335 and 275 have been games the Panthers have lost. Hell with yards passing. Be efficient with your throws, move the chains and do not throw picks.

It also falls on the coaching staff to stop trying to square peg/round hole him. Let him do what he's good at while he continues to develop as a passer and try your best to win while it's happening.

If that improvement doesn't happen you replace him. Simple.

I agree. I hope to see that through out the remainder of the season. I think it will allow Dak to build confidence in doing that.

Whether he throws 200 or 400 yards, I really don't care. With a good defense, moving the chains on offense, and scoring and winning is all that matters.
Not gonna worry about the other teams, plenty of time for that when they're actually playing those games. I do hope that they have turned a corner, and can now be more consistent.

The bolded is exactly what khiladi is talking about. You said, "of course they were not throwing the ball much," but as he has repeatedly pointed out, the Cowboys tried to pass 10 times in the 3rd quarter. They could not get 49 yards in those 10 attemps. Dak was 3/7 for 26 yards, 2 sacks, and 1 scramble. With a couple more passes in the 4th he was 4/9 for 32 yards (3.55 YPA). So, it wasn't a lack of attempts that kept him from 200 yards, it was a poor 2nd half throwing the ball.

First Half - 13/18 - 151 (8.38) - 2 TD
2nd Half - 4/9 - 32 (3.55)
