Why are the standards for this franchise so low?

Mike McCarthy has 10 playoff wins and a Super Bowl ring since Garrett came to the Cowboys....fired.

Tom Coughlin had 8 playoff wins and 2 Super Bowl rings since Garrett came to the Cowboys...ran out of town.

Andy Reid had 10 playoff wins, 6 division titles, 5 conference championship appearances.....ran out of Philly.

Garrett has 1 playoff win in 8 years, yet he wins one overhyped regular season game, it might be time for an extension.

Where did this franchise go wrong?
I have to wonder why people still have to complain when we just beat a 10-1 "super power" and are on a 4 game winning streak taking the lead in our division.

Garett should see the writing on the wall as he did last off season and got rid of all the Postion Assistants, this offseason he best fire SL and Moore and bring in some talent to save his job..

OP is correct garett shouldnt have been given this much rope but hes here and best scario for us as fans is at least JG sees his failures and weakness I time to go get a young gun at OC/QBC

Today I learned that as a HC in the NFL, as long as you have your team playing hard and they believe in something, your job is safe. Results are mostly meaningless.
Here are a few other things you can learn.

The Cowboys are 7-5, on a four game winning streak and in 1st place in the division.

You can take a break from the crying.

Who says the standards are low? If you own a business, you have the right to hire any employees you want and Garrett was preordained to be the Cowboys when he played for them. He is almost family, trusted and knows how to keep Booger happy and that is more important to the owner than winning. He wins anyway, his team is always close or at the top of revenue every season and still the ratings darling.

Those that have predicted Garrett's exit have done so with only considering the NFL and how it operates instead of considering the Jones family and how they operate. Not remotely the same.

While the sentiment in this forum is decidedly anti Garrett, I do not believe that is the feeling of the general fandom. I also believe the same with Booger. I do not like him at all but I know people that do.

Amazing what a four game winning streak does for all these closet Jason Carrot supporters. Didn't here a peep from you guys when they were sitting at 3-5. This team has won 4 games in a row despite it's HC, not because of it's HC.

What makes you believe this year will be any different from previous years? We have a HC and offensive staff that has repeatedly shown an inability to make in-game adjustments, has horrendous clock management (still), consistently tries to win games with the most vanilla play calling imaginable, likes to play conservative to the detriment of many, many hard fought leads over the years. I'd love to see the Cowboys win something in the playoffs but 8 years of pure mediocrity tends to mean we can only expect more of the same. We all know the definition of insanity....

We don't have a gunslinger QB that can save games, we don't have an O-line that can give him the 42 seconds he needs to throw the ball. Our play book came out of a cracker jack box. I guess I just haven't had any of the kool aid yet. The only thing we can count on is our defense, but how long can they hold up under pressure?

lol.

Mike McCarthy was fired largely because Aaron Rodgers has been terrible and that team has been spoiled by success for a decade plus.
But NFL teams see younger OCs doing innovative things and McCarthy had gotten stale. Could back fire or could right ship.

Coughlin was 100 years old and team was in a rut. GM was real issue as they stopped producing enough young talent.

Reid was simply a mistake. DAL with all it's SBs pushed Philly's buttons and they panicked and fired the best coach they've ever had. They went back and hired Reid's asst.

JG: Garrett is Jerry's guy and he is executing the philosophy they have for the organization as a whole. It is a young, ascending group on a 4 game win streak. JG has to eventually prove his mettle in playoff games but he's on pace for an extension not a firing currently. He enjoys that same 29-15 as Dak since 2016.
That's 8 games more than McCarthy has won over the same period.

Coughlin won 19 games in his final 3 full seasons. Averaging 6.3 wins per year.
Reid has 22 his last 3 seasons with the Eagles.

So perhaps the fact JG has simply won more games recently than any of these guys did prior to being fired and not finished .500 or below in years has saved his job......

If Garrett blows this and they miss the playoffs, he should be gone. It's rare to have a 4 game winning streak and still miss the playoffs, although he has done it before in 2011...go figure

Well three years ago they were 13-3 and spent the playoffs comparing game day menus like the rest of us. Garrett is a mediocre coach that is not capable of stepping up during the playoffs. A few years befor this they had another streak at 12-4 I believe and once again comparing game day menus.

This team has hit its peak with Garrett multiple times just to level out when they need to step up. I love how they’re playing, ecstatic about the winning streak. I’m pretty sure they will make the playoffs, that’s where my excitement ends; I expect them to go one and done even though I completely think they’re capable of more.

That’s Garrett and the OC, not down on the team but no trust in them whatsoever.

Garrett put out a pretty decent squad that plays hard...

We’ve had terrible luck in the playoffs the past two times that I think should have been deep runs ...

But if we can’t win a playoff game or two I would move on

Well, puts it perspective quite nicely.

The standard is low b/c the fan base as a whole tolerates it. If more people were angry, Jerry would be forced into action.

This board is celebrating a regular season win and no one is allowed to analyze and criticize.

Let’s stop criticizing Garrett and Jones, because this fan base feeds into those expectations.

We have a loser mentality and this board displays it with pride

Oh I expect us to lose like years past. It might be in the playoffs but something stupid will happen. Probably be a coaching decision . The best thing is that AR won't be the one to beat us.

Some poster on here last week was claiming historical defensive performance after the Saint game. So, I think the real problem is that nobody remembers the history of the franchise. Playoffs used to be a given in Dallas and now its a crowning achievement. Very sad to watch.

People forget we beat the snot out of the Saints for about 3 and a half quarters back in 2009 as well. People got hyped for that, our D was ranked like top 3, we shut our teams in back to back weeks and beat the Eagles 3 times..

...then got smacked around in the playoffs by the Vikings.

The playoffs are an entirely different situation - home field, fans making more of an impact, etc.

I’m still worried about this secondary and think it will be exposed soon.

I will guarantee they weren’t apart of it! It’s so sad a 4game win streak and 7-5 record is a crowning achievement.
