I will start by saying I’m not suggesting anything permanent here. I still have high hopes for him after a year in the gym gaining bulk. However, for the rest of this year I would like to see him as an extra TE in jumbo packages. He moves well and I would rather have him blocking that Jarwin, Rico or Schultz.

I’m down with that idea. I was thinking that the other day.

If you’re going to use an OL as a TE in jumbo packages... Williams is about perfect for that, IMO.

He's a way better blocker than any of the scrubs we currently have at TE. With all the 3 TE sets we run, let's throw him in for a couple of those.

Wasn't #52 Connor Williams out there as a TE (or extra OL) against the Saints? I thought I saw #52 blocking on some of the plays some people posted here or on twitter. Williams could also be used as a FB in my opinion.

I taped the game and haven't watched it entirely yet.

Yeah, he was at TE. It is really smart, IMO.

I said this 2 weeks ago. I also said Garrett is not smart enough to think about this or implement it. Instead we put inexperienced TEs who don’t block very well and leave big uglies on the bench when it’s goal line or short yardage and everyone in the stadium knows Zeke is getting the ball.

So he can suck at two positions? We should throw him in at kicker when we have a big lead.

Yes, good mobility and could seal the edges as he continues to develop.

Yeah. He seems athletic enough that he could prbabky catch a pass too.

Maybe you are on to something. That's the last thing the opponent would be expecting. May be a good strategy. I like the way you think outside the box.

If you are going to play TE, you better be able to run routes. At least that's what they say about Rico.

Very good idea
Garrett/Linehan have long incorporated a OLineman as the Jumbo, extra Te. Looney did it quite a bit when Escobar was struggleing with blocking,

I do think they weigh off the limitation of what can be done with the package.
Rico has been fairly effective, and give a element of surprise, but that is never used, Don't think a opposing Def even respect the possibility any more.

If there is no chance he will be there to catch a pass, defenses are smart enough to know he's just there as a blocker and will key in on it. It's better to have formations with personnel that looks the same run or pass so defenses aren't keyed in on which is about to happen.
