This team reminds me of the 1991 team

... except this team will be destroyed by free agency and cap issues ... unlike the 91 team.

We have a ton of cap but we have 10 or 11 starters hitting free agency next year. Not just regular starters - big names. It should be interesting..

I've seen people compare this team to the 89, 90, 91, and 92 teams every year for as many years as I've posted here or on the old official dallascowboys.com site.

It's the 2018 cowboys and they'll only be here once.

I've never heard anyone compare it to the 70s or 80s teams though. Everyone likes to imagine we're always about to kick off a dynasty.

Here's hoping, either way!

I love our Cooper and Gallup combo at WR. Just wait till that deep passing game to Gallup gets going, Zeke's rushing lanes are going to be so wide he'll start hitting safeties before anyone even touches him.

Yeah, my interpretation of the Gallup misses is that with everything we've seen from Dak and Gallup, this is a comfort issue and not a talent issue. Gallup is getting open, Dak has the rapport on those throws with Cooper. Gallup and Dak just haven't clicked yet. It'll happen.

They talked to Tony Casillas on the the local fox sports tonight. When asked about a young team learning to win. A team that was to young, and a year away. Like the 1992 team.

He said, there are some similarities but he didn’t want to say an outright yes. All he basically said was about the D, not the O, was that they were the #1 D and they carried that onto the SB.

**** next year. No reason why we can't go on a roll this year. As of right now we are the hottest team in the NFC. The Bears just lost to the Giants, the Rams just lost to a team who just lost to the Giants, and we just beat the Saints. Why wait until next year?

the trade for Amari felt like a re-set.
this defense....it just looks and feels different.
we'll find out....but this team might do something special.
3 games left.

10 or 11 starters, take a look and let me know where you're getting that number? Lawrence, Beasley, Irving, and Wilson are the top guys. And out of those Lawrence and Beasley seem to be the guys most critical to keep. Irving is a nice to have but he never seems to be available and is one slip up away from not being available at all. Wilson has played about 27 percent of snaps this season and he has played well, but if it comes between handing out a big contract for a part time player or letting them walk what do you think the Cowboys will choose?

Of the rest Swaim, LP, Fleming, and Rod Smith are all guys I would like back as well, but on modest short term deals.

DeMarcus Lawrence DE 27 DAL TBD $17,143,000 UFA Market Value
Tavon Austin WR 28 DAL TBD $7,000,000 UFA -
Cole Beasley WR 30 DAL TBD $3,401,500 UFA -
David Irving DT 26 DAL TBD $2,914,000 UFA -
James Hanna TE 30 DAL TBD $2,750,000 UFA -
Cameron Fleming T 26 DAL TBD $2,500,000 UFA -
Jamize Olawale FB 30 DAL TBD $2,000,000 UFA -
L.P. Ladouceur LS 38 DAL TBD $1,105,000 UFA -
Marcus Martin G 25 DAL TBD $880,000 UFA -
Caraun Reid DE 27 DAL TBD $790,000 UFA -
Datone Jones DE 29 DAL TBD $782,500 UFA -
Darian Thompson FS 25 DAL TBD $705,000 UFA -
Damien Wilson OLB 26 DAL TBD $686,579 UFA -
Rod Smith RB 27 DAL TBD $660,000 UFA -
C.J. Goodwin S 29 DAL TBD $630,000 RFA -
Justin March ILB 26 DAL TBD $585,000 RFA -
Geoff Swaim TE 25 DAL TBD $583,684 UFA -

Next year I think we're going to go on a roll.
If Jerry goes all in this off season we will, but not if he does what he did after the 2016 season.

He's got to add to the defensive line, to our safety department, to our TE department, and to our offensive line department. We'll need 1 high profile free agent, and one average free agent, and the rest through the draft.

We'll also need a new offensive coordinator with new concepts if we're not going to get rid of Garrett. Along with a new QBs coach. Send Marinelli off on a nice retirement vacation package and make Richard the assistant coach & Defensive coordinator and allow him to hire a couple of his own people to help with it. Also allow him say so in the draft room.

The receivers next year should be Amari/Gallup/Austin/& either Beasley (pending price) or another inexpensive free agent speedster. Then you can fill out the rest of the receiving core with JAGs, but I'd cut Hurns. He's not worth the $$ right now, Amari is.

Guys that need to get into the gym ASAP are Connor Williams & LVE.

Well, it’s not the truth so there. And I’m an ole fart and actually watched the Ice Bowl. So spare me your grandstanding.

If you believe this team will he kept together in the manner and fashion the 91 team was with the rules and volitility in the League now ... you may not be just an old fart like me ,,, but a bit senile as well,

In 2007 I thought we were on the verge of something. Turns out it was nothing but heartache.

It actually reminds me of the Giants run in 2007 with a very good D who took on the top team in the league (like the Giants vs the Patriots) but we won instead of a close loss.
