5 hours before game time lots open, except Noon games and then its 4 hours. You better be there before that to get in line or you might not get one of the tailgating spots.
Those are the ones on the perimeter of the lot with grassy area behind them.

There are approximately 12,000 parking spaces distributed among 15 numbered lots at AT&T Stadium. In addition, there are nearly 12,000 parking spaces in lettered lots around the Texas Rangers Ballpark that may be used on an event day. Parking areas are generally open five (5) hours prior to Cowboys games. AT&T Stadium is not responsible for and assume no liability arising from accidents, fire, theft, damage to or loss of the vehicle or any article therein while on stadium property.

All guests wishing to tailgate must observe the following guidelines. These guidelines have been developed to provide a fair, reasonable and safe tailgating experience for guests. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in the loss of tailgating privileges and ejection from the parking lot.

  • Tailgating spaces are for vehicles only. Parking spaces may not be used for tents, grills, chairs or other items. Each vehicle must have a valid parking permit.
  • Tailgating is defined as the placement of any item on the ground (chairs, coolers, grills, games, etc.).
  • Tailgating is only permitted in the grass areas on the perimeter of the parking lots. The maximum area that any single tailgate space may occupy is 9-feet wide and 12-feet deep.
  • Tailgating must be confined to the area adjacent to the end of the designated tailgating vehicle parking space (maximum of 12 feet from the rear of the parking vehicle).
  • Any grass areas beyond the designated tailgating spaces are considered common ground and may be used by other guests for tailgating or picnicking activities.
  • Tailgating is not permitted in Lot 3, portions of Lot 5, Lot 8, and Lot 9.
  • Tailgating is permitted from the time the lots open and up to two (2) hours following Dallas Cowboys or college football games.
  • All guests must follow the directions and instructions provided by stadium personnel (parking staff, security, police, etc.).
  • Dispose of trash in the appropriate receptacles.
  • Coals must be disposed of in the designated coal containers located throughout the lots. Do not dump coals or store stoves on the grass, parking areas, under or around vehicles.
  • The following items/activities are prohibited:
    • Deep fryers or any oil-based cooking or frying
    • Open flame fires of any kind. Charcoal or gas cooking is permitted.
    • Disorderly conduct
    • Picketing, political campaigning or soliciting/distribution of any kind
    • Saving parking or tailgating spaces
    • Weapons and fireworks
    • Sale of food, beverage, merchandise, etc.
    • Advertising or promoting any third party products (including but not limited to food and beverage products)
    • Amplified sound systems or the use of radios/audio devices at loud levels.
Tailgating for Cowboys games is permitted in designated tailgating spaces only. These spaces are located on the perimeter of each parking lot and have a grassy area immediately behind the vehicle parking spot. There are tailgating spaces in Lots 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15, and the spaces are filled on a first come/first served basis. If interested in tailgating, it is important to arrive early to obtain one of the designated spaces.

Parking is a joke anyway. Jerry is far from figuring that part out. People are parking anywhere in a 2 mile radius from the stadium. The lots around the stadium seem to be reserved for season ticket holders as their are no fees posted for parking on stadium grounds. The kicker is that even season tickets holders can't get into the parking lot more than a few hours before kickoff. If I just paid a PSL seat licence + season ticket charges + a parking pass, why the heck shouldn't I be able to sit there all afternoon for an evening kickoff? Tail gating doesn't cut into concessions anymore than Texas Live which is this HUGE venue of bars and restaurants a block from the stadium.
It's economics.

They want you to come inside and buy a $10 hotdog and $4 Pepsi. and $12 dollar mix drinks.

Question- How do you think these guys got their millions.?

Answer- by sucking wildcat wells dry

and customers dry who come to the games.

Silly boy.

No, I had the boys with me. It looked like fun, but way too crowded for me. I sent pics fine, but I have with FirstNet through AT&T for first responders. That might've made a difference.

Next time, go for lunch. It was pretty wide open when we toured around and ate at troy's.

Thanks for the info. Though tailgating is permitted on the perimeter around many of these lots, they aren't allowed to access the lots even if they have permits. They park on the street in front of their tents and the lots are empty. Thats what I observed anyway. Its pretty apparent that Jerry isn't tailgate friendly.

LVE is an ant compared to Dak and zekes popularity. I “wonder” why you think he’d be popular

LVE is just getting started. His jersey is all over ATT. You don't see Sean Lee or DLaw or Zach Martin...............its Vander Esch. His brand will grow b/c he just made the AP All Pro team as a rookie, and the cowboys will push his jersey like they did for Dak and Zeke. I think the Zeke and Dak Jersey sales are popular b/c if you want a Jersey with a player name, 80% of your selection is Zeke and Dak. They are the only current players carried by the big retailers like Wallmart at the moment. Vander Esch is about to join them.

Hey bark, were they Cal. Cowboy fans or Seattle? Just curious.
Life long cowboys fans. Very knowledgeable about the current squad as well as the team history dating back to the Landry years. Even the younger kids in the group were diehards.
We discussed the possibility that we might be headed to LA and how they would be there if that indeed happened.

Saying Jerry is not tailgating friendly is not correct. If you want to tailgate, you can. It’s that simple.

Just not on his property. The parking lot hours are obviously intended to curb it. Its that simple.

Not true. Lots open several hours before game time per what poke posted earlier. People wouldn't be able to park on the streets in front of their tents - most of those streets are the main roads (ie Collins, Division, etc). Would never be able to park there while you wait for the lots to open.

Tailgating is definitely allowed and people do it big. Limited to the outer edges of the lots, but some of these guys are pretty impressive with their setups (DJ's, smokers, etc).

Now we may not be able to start early like some other teams, but definitely able to still have a great time. And Texas Live is great! Definitely a cool options for pre/post game activities!

Where did I say tailgating is not allowed?

I was there. I know what I saw. The game was at 7pm. The tailgaters are out there lining the parking lots early in the morning. They have to b/c space is limited to the outer edges of the parking lots and quite competitive. . There is no other option than for them to park their vehicles in front of their tents. I am sure at some point, the cars have to be moved. Its a PIA. Keeping lots closed until a few hours before game times and limiting tailgating to areas outside the parking areas is not a tailgate friendly policy and obviously intended to curb it..

If you think the cowboy tailgate scene compares favorably to most NFL or even major college teams, you need to get out more. My impression of the scene was that it was kinda sad and just a sliver of what it could be if the Cowboys opened their parking lots up.

You're right - "allowed" was the wrong word. And I definitely don't think it compares with others. I've been to Lambeau, and while I think they're a crazy breed out there, they do it right.

I was there too. I'm a season ticket holder and have parking passes in Lot 11, and tailgate quite a bit. And I agree - it could obviously be way better!

My wife and I ate lunch at Texas live and did a lot of walking around. We look forward to that Loews opening a block from the stadium.

I have a lot 11 parking pass. at the appointed time I am allowed access to the lot. I then tailgate behind my car on the grass surrounding the lot. what you saw was people getting there early before the lot opens to make sure they get one of the tailgating allowed spaces .
