Brugler has us taking Bama DE Isaiah Buggs with our pick in the 2nd round.

6’-4” 286 lbs.

JUCO transfer didn’t do much with the Tide his junior season but exploded on the scene his senior season with 52 tackles, 13.5 TFL, 9.5 sacks, 3 PDs, and 2 FF.

He’s the quintessential boom/bust type prospect that’s shown production in limited time (one season). It also has to be factored in that he played next to probably the #1 prospect in the Draft in Quinnen Williams.

I’m intrigued by the thought of adding more talent to the defensive line.

I think Buggs would be used in Crawford's role all over the DL - basically the same height and weight. That'd probably be the appeal to the Cowboys, who love the heck out of position flex.

I'm not sure that's the route I'd go, but I could live with it.

Can never have enough pass rushers.

Its hard what will be become of Charlton. Armstrong may be able to do alot of the stuff we may ask Charlton to do in Lawrence/Gregory DL but he is still very much an unknown. Buggs can become a player that can be used to rush fron many different gaps, and allow us to use different alignments. If we have that ability, then we can really put Lawrence and Gregory in positions where they can exploit mismatches.

It also keeps us from having to play them 1000 snaps a year out of necessity. I think that you really want to 3 DE's over 500 snaps and none over 900 if possible. Taco is supposed to be that guy, but he is still very up in the air. I don't have an issue his play, but all those healthy scratches cant be ignored

I think we are good with our top 2 DE's. I dont that a pure 7 gap rusher is needed. A poor mans Gregory may not get snaps because there really wouldnt be much reason outside of rest. But a DE that can play multiple gaps, that can play a 6 gap and let Lawrence or Gregory rush from a 9 when he is in the game. That gives us a competitive advantage as well as the ability to give Lawrence some rest without inhibiting pressure.

I could easily see a pick like this happening. David Irving may not be back and Crawford could be a cap cut. With all the high profile guys we have to resign will we be able to keep Collins when his deal is up? With the improved TE play I might go DT/DE in 2 and OT in 3 because we not be able to keep LC in feee agency after next season.

Buggs loafs too much for me. Not quick twitch enough and limited athletically IMO. Also, I feel he's as good as he's going to get. Solid, rotation guy.

So many DT's in this class we should be able to get a good one in the second day.

Cant expect the world with the 57th pick. The usual MO is to find a 1st round talent that blew out a knee.

As long as he's BPA . Which he very well could be.
I want a TE but I see mocks with top TEs lasting to the 3rd round.

We have to many of those big DE/DT!!! We need speed rushers!!!
