The Cowboys hired Jason Garrett in 2007 before they hired Wade Phillips. It was obvious then that Garrett would replace Phillips as the team's head coach at some point. It came during the mid...

I will admit that I am guilty of this as well but I think a lot of criticism of Garrett is grounded in optics. The clapping and helmet slapping are things people don’t expect in their HC. Rather people experience etc their head coaches to be serious curmudgeons like Bellicheck, Parcells.

Clearly true. Wade never had the leadership skills. He is an elite coordinator though. Garrett leads. I wish he'd had 4-5 years more to develop as a coordinator or worked under a HC that would have helped his development. I recall that Jerry really wanted hin here to work under Parcells. Say what you want about BP, but his development of coaches is unparalleled.

Crazy. This guy wins one playoff game and all of a sudden the criticism is grounded in optics. It’s not.

I expect my Head coach to win playoff games and manage a clock.

Garrett can draft well, though

Lol no.

Wade is known as the nicest guy in the league. This is just him being nice. Garrett stabbed him right in the back!

Garrett sucks. Should have been fired ten times by now.
Not trying to call you out, and most definitely not trying to defend Garrett, but what exactly did he do to stab him in the back? Is it conjecture? Is there something someone said that makes that truth? I have heard that a bunch of times, but I guess I missed what happened.

I'm not saying that Garrett does not have his faults as a coach, but in reality when you pause and think of it, what does his clapping or red hair or anything superficial have to do with being a coach? Nothing. Yet people, including myself obsess over it and use it as some indicator that he is the worst coach ever. Is he the best coach we ever had? No. Is he the worst? Not even close.

Maybe he is trying to somehow motivate his guys for something. Well he did say this is a revenge game after he thanked Jerry for so many things
