Because when he was under center in years they looked hot, the defense always collapsed in the playoffs.

I think a lot of fans who hate Romo either look the that 2007 game against the Giants or the Seattle game where he dropped the slick ball as a holder.

They look to those because they believe they are evidence that Romo choked. Nevermind the facts that the NFL actually changed the rules concerning balls used on kicks because Seattle purposely sent in a slick ball in that loss or that our offense was handicapped against the Giants because Owens had gotten hurt and was practically a decoy. With Terry Glenn just returning to action, Patrick Crayton and the tight ends were our passing game. I could point to a lithany of reasons why we lost that game, but the blinded fan is only going to see the fourth-down interception on a desperation play that should have never been necessary.

And for those who will not read the article, Romo was quoted saying also:

If you look at the front seven of the Cowboys, they’re going to be in every game because the defense you just can’t go up and down the field on them. You just can’t. This will be one of their tougher tests this week because their defense will keep them in the game. But you just have to score a touchdown in the second half at the right moment. And if you do, the Cowboys are absolutely in a position in which they can win the Super Bowl.”
Thank you DallasEast!

Perhaps Romo just wants to stay out of the escalated frenzy because he knows how polarizing Cowboy fans are towards their QBs. Smart and he is doing a stellar job in the booth now.

Rather than rebut by providing examples, you insult. About what I expected based on your original post to be honest.

Why should i even bother with someone like you ?

First you insult me without any arguments. Now you play it low by turning things around.

I am too old for this kind of people.

Go check it on your own. I wont do the work for you.

Great post and what most people don't want to hear but all true .
"All true?"

Salary caps are an artificial financial construct agreed upon per collective bargaining agreement by the owners and players union. While teams must devote a minimum amount of their cap to players' collectively (the 89 percent rule), there is zero language pertaining to the maximum figure any individual player's negotiated contract can be.

The quarterback position has the largest compensation base on average than any other position. In other words, the position usually eats the largest portion of a team's salary cap pie on average. Individual quarterbacks paid the most are franchise quarterbacks. Of course, this is not true of every team in every season. Again. On. Average. Now, some additional facts:

  • Every individual player is an employee of their franchise
  • Owners (via themselves or via their general managers) are employers
  • Owners (the employers) pay players (the employees). It is never the 'other way around'
So.

When anyone AT ANY TIME makes the assertion that a player's high salary cap number may negatively impact their team's overall salary cap, that assertion may be true not only for ONE individual player commanding a high salary but EVERY player of ANY team commanding a high salary.

However.

The assertion that a player intentionally works against himself by commanding a high salary is always flawed. Players negotiate for the best attainable contract. Owners decide upon the maximum figure they will pay to compensate the player. The following should never be necessary for any conversation about the salary cap but certain people continuely ignore or dismiss these two kindergarten facts:

  1. An owner can pay a player
  2. An owner can refuse to pay a player
Jerry Jones paid his franchise quarterback franchise dollars. Jones was not forced, coerced, pressured, bullied, strong-armed or intimidated into paying his franchise quarterback. But he did paid nonetheless. Anyone with an ounce of common sense can make an assertion of any kind. However, common sense is lacking any time someone makes an assertion and applies it to the wrong individual.

Owners control their salary cap. Praise or blame for the condition of their salary cap is totally owned by them. That should be a key item to remember any time any player's contract will likely balloon but certain people will simply ignore or dismiss it every time. There is a reason why. And that reason is not the player's fault as well.

He had one of the better OLs for most of his career.
The line was good in 2007...and though aging, was good enough 2008-2009
The line was phenomenal in 2014
But the line was not so hot or even terrible at times from 2010-2013....and the run game and defenses also stunk then.

His most well rounded team was 2007.

Except that our defense has no expensive free agents.
So not really true afterall.
What is head shaking is why it is ever necessary for anyone to introduce transparent and plainly obvious observations like yours into conversations like this--simply to counter some people's either misunderstands or false assertions.

His most well rounded team was 2007.

The line came apart in the playoffs in 2007 as the Giants exposed its weaknesses. We had built the line primarily around power with Adams, Gurode, Davis and Colombo. Kosier was the only starting lineman we had who could really move, so the Giants attacked us with speed, particularly by stunting, and set the precedent how to beat the line.

I believe two or three of the linemen were Pro Bowl selections that year, but it was based on the regular season and not that playoff failure. Anyone who doesn't remember Romo having to constantly dodge pressure in that game isn't trying hard enough.

That was the beginning of the end for the line. It stayed together for a couple of years because Jerry is slow to move on from his players, but Garrett obviously made it a goal when he took over to replace those aging and slow big men.

The sad thing is that I believe the defense that year was good enough to win with despite the TD given up at the end of the first half, but the injuries at receiver, missed opportunities (Crayton's big drop and slowing on the end zone route), and the line's struggles derailed us.

Could Romo have done some things better? I'm sure of it because any time you lose there are going to be some things every player could have done better. (For that matter, when you win, there are going to be some things you could have done better.) However, those who strictly look at wins and losses and not what goes into them do not see the real picture, just the perception.

this thread is long so I’m gonna assume it’s dak vs romo.

Doesn’t romo hold all of our team records?

And dak holds many similar records ....of overall offensive ineptitude?
