The Chiefs defense is not the Cowboys defense. They had to get it done with 11 which left them susceptible to play-action (hence key #2). The Cowboys front 6/7 should be able to get it done while the secondary remains true to their assingment.
And the Cowboys O is not the Rams O, either.
Who is the better O genius here? This is the x factor of the game.
The final score will tell the tale of the two franchises and the direction of these two HCs.

Our best HCs in Dallas Cowboys history: Landry and Jimmy were D minded Coaches with great Os.
In my humble opinion, with this young very talented roster, this is our need to be able to take it all.
I hope Richards becomes our HC and gets a great young McVay type O mind to take us where we need to go.
Richards on D is equivalent to McVay on O.

The final score is a mail it in key. The OP is asking basically what strategy will be employed to accomplish that goal. The Cowboys will do what they've done all year.

Shut down the run.

Be assingment sound which leads to 3 & outs.

Protect the football - the Cowboys don't air it out like other teams by design...in an effort to protect the football, grind on the opposing defense, and keep the opposing offense on the sideline.

That is why stats don't tell the whole story regarding Dak; his offensive output is dampened by scheme.

This is Garrett's O all the way.

Play calling, and letting Dak use his legs to get the first if he can't see the open guys - and he'll miss several I gaurontee..If he takes the sack instead of running we're stuffed.

Oy......

I've posted this before and will probably post it again before the game, but here is the key to winning:

- My gf has watched the game with me for every Cowboys win this season, and every game she's missed, we've lost.
- She tried to 'prove' she wasn't lucky by missing the Indy game. We all know what happened that day.
- She's taken a blood oath to be here for the game tonight. That's going to cost me dinner and a bottle of water (at least). I'll post a link to my ******** page so that you guys can show your appreciation (haha)
- She actually wore my #50 jersey and my DC baseball cap during the Jaguars drubbing. Debating whether I should allow her to do that again. I don't want to seem greedy to the all-important football gods and spirits. Thoughts?

Well, with me not watching and your GF watching it's a sure win :muttley:

Defense holding them to less points than we score.

I don't mean that in the obvious way but that in some time in these playoffs the defense is not going to stifle an opponent and the offense is going to have to do more than just hang around with the other team while our defense pounds them.

This may be that game. It may be the next 3 that Dak has to do things with his arm to score points!

What QB under Garrett has ever ultimately won the big one in Garrett's nine years?
Garrett constantly suffocates the whole universe and drains the life out of everything in creation just to control the clock and gain 3 yards without any points.
This is vintage Garrett and who he is.
This is why nobody is picking us to win this game.

Vince Lombardi: Coaching is everything.

None, that's my point. :clap:There won't BE any good play calling! o_O And JG has tried to coach the scramble (Dak's biggest strength) out of Dak since he got here....that's JG's MO.

Touchdowns instead of field goals

This. Plus excellent corner coverage on their receivers.

It kinda looks to me like Jones performance has tailed off a bit and Awuzie is playing better ball these past few weeks.

Looks like we've become susceptible to the deep ball and that's where the Rams excel. That's my primary area of concern.

Really?

The way I remember it, when Garrett called the plays the Cowboys were one of the most pass-happy teams in the league. The Cowboys became a run-first team in 2014, which was after Jerry took play-calling away from Garrett so he could be a walk-around coach.

So, this is Linehan vs Wade and McVay vs Richard in terms of play-calling...but that's only a small part of it because whichever team executes the game plan better is likely the team that wins.

We have to keep control of the ball , Run away from Donald , Dak has to run for positive yrds when things are not there , no sacks or fumbles . Penalties at a minimum we cant hold it will lose the game for us .

Pray special teams dose not commit some horrible error that we cant overcome , Hope Austin gets revenge and gives us something in the return game .

Our Defense , stop the run hit Goff in the mouth and get the 3 and outs .

Zeke needs to have a great game !!

Really. And have we won a Super Bowl with him or won more than 2 wild card games in 9 years with him? Please don't try to draw me into a debate about this. McVay IS the HC here. And you are referencing him against our coordinators and removing Garrett out of the dialogue. Let's compare HC vs HC please.
