News: Romo doesn't mention Cowboys are one of the major threats to win Super Bowl

The line came apart in the playoffs in 2007 as the Giants exposed its weaknesses. We had built the line primarily around power with Adams, Gurode, Davis and Colombo. Kosier was the only starting lineman we had who could really move, so the Giants attacked us with speed, particularly by stunting, and set the precedent how to beat the line.

I believe two or three of the linemen were Pro Bowl selections that year, but it was based on the regular season and not that playoff failure. Anyone who doesn't remember Romo having to constantly dodge pressure in that game isn't trying hard enough.

That was the beginning of the end for the line. It stayed together for a couple of years because Jerry is slow to move on from his players, but Garrett obviously made it a goal when he took over to replace those aging and slow big men.

The sad thing is that I believe the defense that year was good enough to win with despite the TD given up at the end of the first half, but the injuries at receiver, missed opportunities (Crayton's big drop and slowing on the end zone route), and the line's struggles derailed us.

Could Romo have done some things better? I'm sure of it because any time you lose there are going to be some things every player could have done better. (For that matter, when you win, there are going to be some things you could have done better.) However, those who strictly look at wins and losses and not what goes into them do not see the real picture, just the perception.
That’s what bugs me about this clutch talk.

Romo made the throw to crayton. Clayton blew it. and to dez. Ref blew it or whatever. He made the throw tho. He didn’t choke or anything.

So then Eli throws up blind junk and it gets caught. Now he’s clutch. Idk it’s a great sport tho. Wacky bounces

Going to always be that way. Some fans and commentators only see the end result and blame or credit the quarterback. It's a stupid way to look at it. There's just too much that goes into wins and losses to make generalizations.

Sacks results in losses. Penalties result in losses. Fumbles result in losses. Interceptions result in losses. Poor blocking results in losses. Poor defense results in losses. Poor coaching results in losses. You can have all of those things (and more) in one game, and only one be the fault of the quarterback.

And even when they give the qb credit for dropping a dime to a wr on the run. I’m like ...didn’t the wr stride his way to time that out?

At the end of the day romo had huge balls. Pocket presence. And had great chemistry with every wr. Threw catchable passes. Threw wr’s open. Coached on the field. Wasn’t afraid to take a hit or play through pain. Wasn’t afraid to make a throw in a tight window and take the blame for said throw not going our way.

I haven’t seen a lot of that from dak yet. If he wins I’m gonna feel weird about people ******** on romo.

I wish fans would just understand that the circumstances are simply different. The team is different in a team game. Instead of just enjoying that, there seems to be a need to use success in those different circumstances as a platform for criticism (whether it's criticism of Prescott or criticism of Romo).

Would a healthy Romo have won it all in 2016 or this year? Would Prescott have won it all with the 2014 team? It's impossible to know. Maybe Romo throws a pass against Seattle that bounces off a receiver and becomes an interception that becomes the difference or maybe he leads us to even more points. Maybe Prescott runs for a first down on fourth down against Green Bay in 2014 instead of the overturned catch by Bryant or maybe Green Bay blows us out.

The line was good in 2007...and though aging, was good enough 2008-2009
The line was phenomenal in 2014
But the line was not so hot or even terrible at times from 2010-2013....and the run game and defenses also stunk then.

His most well rounded team was 2007.

No, it wasn't good enough in 2009...well it was in the regular season. In the playoffs against the Vikings, rather than play O-line, they played matador and couldn't protect the QB for crap. Through most of that game, at least one defender had a near straight shot to the QB every play.

Why should i even bother with someone like you ?

First you insult me without any arguments. Now you play it low by turning things around.

I am too old for this kind of people.

Go check it on your own. I wont do the work for you.
I didn't insult you, I just said you were wrong. I suppose that instead of saying that Romo had the worst teammates/coaches of good to great QBs in his time, I could have listed all the ones that were in the same tier or better that had better if not much better supporting casts and coaches. So I'll go ahead and do that.
Brady, Peyton, Rodgers, Brees, Roethlisberger, Ryan, Wilson, Favre, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some. The only exception I can think of would be Andrew Luck until this year.

I think most if not all of these are pretty inarguable.

You have anything to support your claim?

I would strongly disagree that the line was even good, let alone good enough in 2007-2009 at least in terms of pass blocking. It was pretty terrible in 2006 until Romo came in and masked the flaws until they showed through against good pass rushes. I'd probably take the Cowboys current line over the 2007 line.

Is it just a singular sum of it's parts that seemingly strike you in a humorous fashion ,or the overall compiled composition?,,, cuz' if there's one thing I do know about ,friend,,,and, that is "what is funny",,,and there's nothing there to even commence the wrinkle of a slight wry grin to begin formulating,,,

this thread is long so I’m gonna assume it’s dak vs romo.

Doesn’t romo hold all of our team records?

And dak holds many similar records ....of overall offensive ineptitude?
Any back-ended reason to be ugly. Why be this way in order to bring Romo into your statement? It's very disrespectful to Romo, actually, to throw his name into your statement in this context. Come on, Romo is not this way. Why not follow HIS lead if you feel that strongly about him? He's a class act guy who is beloved by many. No statement like this is going to elevate Romo to spite Dak. It really has a back-fire, opposite effect.

Perhaps Romo just wants to stay out of the escalated frenzy because he knows how polarizing Cowboy fans are towards their QBs. Smart and he is doing a stellar job in the booth now.

I’m not sure what impact you think my opinion on their talent levels has on society lol.

Imo....Our best lines have been
2014
2016
2015
2018
2007
2017
2008
Etc

Maybe 2007 slightly higher, maybe

Obviously 2010 2011, 2012, 2913 were bad

They were overwhelmed in 2009 in Minnesota and their best lineman got hurt early in the game to boot.
But that Vikings pass rush, with the deafening dome crowd noise, vs our decimated line == no chance
Just one of those snowball effect games. Really the only playoff game weve lost that wasnt a nail-biter in about 20 years

I think I'd agree with you 100% other than probably swapping the top 2.

As Jimmy said in this game right before kickoff, "The team will go as Flozell goes." And Flozell went out.. early in the game.

Romo had the worst luck so his first super bowl will be calling a cowboys win in the super bowl

And then I’d hope they’d bring him down and let him hold it because he carried this franchise for over a decade. And he always did it the right way.

Now,Don't be putting the cart b-4 the horse,,, although, that element of the ultimate yearned for mark of a franchises seasonal success is within attack range,,, once we should possibly attain RAMMING SPEED? We'll all be posting those possibilities,,, but,,,it ALL hinges upon this single engagement,,,Tonighto_O
