Per Ed Werner - Garrett wanted Linehan gone last year

Last off-season Jason Garrett attempted to move on from Linehan and Jerry not only denied that request but increased Linehan responsibility & power. Also, Garrett was more involved with play calling duties late in year and if Dallas doesn't get OC they want....Garrett will call plays in 2019.

If so... It sounds like Jerry did it to see how competent both were if they had to handle their own specific roles. Garrett passed and well you know the rest...

Jerry gave Lineham one last chance and he wasn’t happy with the results...

Jerry was forced to make this move due to public outcry. I have been fan of Cowboys for long time and I can't remember a time where there was such level of hostility toward a coach.

2020 is considered “loaded”?

At QB, yes supposed to be. At this point in this year, Hankins is the highest rated and then Kyler Murray.

2020 has prospects that are supposed to come out that would probably go ahead of those 2 in this class.

Garrett already said that Linehan was going nowhere. If Garrett wanted him gone, he NEVER says that. Linehan is a Garrett guy all the way through. The ONLY part that may have made any sense is that Garrett may have wanted play calling back. We already know he got kicked to the curb on that and has probably wanted it back ever since.
Or Garrett used reverse psychology to finally get what he wanted all along. Jason snookered Jerry!

We are doomed. We all know what will happen. What a circus.

This is the only thing that puzzles me. Linehan is a Garrett guy. From what I’ve read they were friends. So he wanted him fired last year and it actually happens this year? I don’t know....

If you want someone gone do you run to the media and declare that no major coaching changes will happen or do you run into your bosses office and tell them you want a new OC?

if true...there shouldn't be any doubts that Garrett is nothing more than Jerry Jones puppet. You think other coaches don't take note of this? If Belichick was a FA and JJ was throwing 5 million more a year than anyone else BB wouldn't take it. But not to worry there is always another Gailey, Campo or a Garrett around that will dance to whatever JJ wants to hear.

Oh yah, that makes even more sense. LOL

And why would Garrett want Linehan gone? Linehan does EXACTLY what Garrett wants with that methodical, predictable, conservative offense. If a guy comes in here with some new, creative, more complicated offense then anything to do with Garrett will be gone from the team. His OFFENSIVE touch so to speak will be toast.

there has never been doubt even for 1 sec that reason Jason is one of longest tenured HC in NFL has more to do with his willingness to go along with Jerry than his coaching prowess.

Garrett could walk, supposedly he would have all the offers he could want if he were free. why sit around and be someone's puppet?

Soooo.....does this mean we can possibly get a new HC too and make such a raucous that we actually get a real coach?

I'm just going to say this ... I don't put any weight in anything Ed Werder says. This may all be true but I need another source !
