Coach Weis who created NE's potent offense was on 105.3 The Fan this morning and was asked about his assessment of Dallas. He said he loved Dak in college and said he was one of thee toughest QBs he's ever seen. He said Dak was a winner.

He said our defense was good and our two young LBs were outstanding.

We have the league leading RB and a great OL, and that's the key to our offense. We should continue to pound the ball.

The only thing missing is a TE, and things will fall into place.

Amazing, almost word for word what some have been saying.

Agreed we need a tight end, but we're still missing some parts on defense and offense. Team is talented but it has holes. Our interior pass rush defense is great, but we need someone on the outside to stop the passing game. Maybe an extra slot receiver, Jarwin is coming along nicely, however, and has shown some potential. We need better coaches too, but we know that's not going to happen.

Tight end would be further down on my wish list. A second-year of Cooper and Gallup will prove quite a handful and I think our young tight ends can take up the slack. I would opt to keep our young Dynamic linebackers clean and get better defensive tackle play. Of course until proven otherwise coaching will remain the albatross staring this team in the face.

Well, Dallas technically has 4 TEs, Swaim, Jarwin, Schultz, and Rico. I think this quartet developed into a pretty good TE group by the end of the year. And I look forward to them improving next year. It sure would be great to add a star TE like Kelce if that is the type of TE Weis is referring to.. But, they don't grow on trees. The top TEs in last year's 2018 draft didn't do a whole heck of a lot. The PSU TE Gesicki didn't do squat. Goedert did OK.

The one thing I didn't notice much from the Cowboy TEs this year was very few seam routes were called. Strange since all 4 of the Cowboy TEs should be good at it.

Except Jarwin caught 3 TD's down the seam in one game..He should and most likely will get more chances next year.

Every QB needs a receiver who will present himself as an outlet and chain mover every play, a guy who sees what the QB sees, who can be trusted to be exactly where he should be when he should be. For most QB's, that's the TE. For Dak, it was Witten or Beasley in his rookie year; then it was no one. Then it was Cooper to an extent. Give the young QB a top of the line TE who can get open, use leverage, and read the defense, and it will be dramatic.

Yeah I'm not sure why the hate for our tight ends...they started off slow but I saw enough from them to want to see more next season. The move is getting a free agent veteran in here if you are going to do it but wasting a draft pick on one unless a 1st round talent drops is just pointless to me.

Because they are dime a dozen guys.

A TE that commands attention would make everyone better.

Our TEs are just an after thought for defenses and that is why they have any success.

I do not agree that all they need is the TE; however, I do agree they need a top 8 TE for the QB and I don't think any of these they have now qualify as that.

This OL is incomplete. Williams is a ?, don't know for sure about Yosemite's comeback and Collins is merely adequate, not really good.

Coach Weis who created NE's potent offense...

I'm not sure that's true. It's kept on without him, got better actually, and what's he been doing the last several years?

I totally agree. I thought both Jarwin and Schultz improved and really stepped up as the season went along. Both came through when they were called upon later in the season. I think Swaim's injury actually benefited both of them. And I'm eager to see the improvement either or both will show next year. I'm not interested in using one of our top draft picks in 2019 on another one.

Really?

People have been saying that all this team needs is better tight end play and everything else will fall in place?

What about our coaches sucking and we call all the wrong plays and we wont get anywhere with Garrett?

The team's inability to attack the seam in the passing game was obvious. Most of the plays the TEs were making were on play action with outside breaking or drag routes.

Because the play calling never had them do it. The one game Jarwin was featured in that role against the Giants, he had a career day.
