Coach Weis who created NE's potent offense was on 105.3 The Fan this morning and was asked about his assessment of Dallas. He said he loved Dak in college and said he was one of thee toughest QBs he's ever seen. He said Dak was a winner.

He said our defense was good and our two young LBs were outstanding.

We have the league leading RB and a great OL, and that's the key to our offense. We should continue to pound the ball.

The only thing missing is a TE, and things will fall into place.

Given how much we play TEs, even when we don't have any good ones, spending on a quality TE makes sense for us. Lots of bang for the buck. Lots of snaps.

And a big target over the middle would open up the middle of the field for us. Usually it's all short underneath and along the sideline.

why would you look at James draft profile? hes been in the league for 4 yrs. Why not just watch some of the videos on him. Hes developed and now hes a complete TE
I would need to watch games - a lot of them - not just a short video. Those can make a player appear anyway someone wants to appear. Maybe you are right, but are you really watching that many Steeler games and specifically focusing on watching him block so that you would know? Maybe you are, but it would surprise me that a Cowboy fan would spend that much time watching another team and focusing that much on a fairly nondescript player. I doubt most Cowboys can honestly say they focus that closely on the blocking of the Cowboys TEs.

Did he miss the Rams running all over us like our front seven didn't even exist?

How many game changing tight ends are in this league? You guys are making tight end to be a bigger position than it really is. There's a handful of game changing tight ends in the league. And with that 2nd round pick...we need someone who can come in day 1 and compete for a starting job. If tight end is that position that's fine. But I personally saw enough from Schultz and Jarwin to make me hold off on making that my first pick of the draft.

they exist, and would be nice to have. and right now, our group is mediocre at best. biggest need? probably not, biggest luxury to have? absolutely. and could pay big dividends, unless you're extrapolating one anamoly of a game and setting expectations off of that moving forward. worked for jeff janis lol

to be blunt that is stupid on so many levels

- our DL was often rolled up by top rushers - McCaffrey, Peterson, Barkley and Gurley come to mind
and our interior pass rush came from LBs, our DTs suck

- our OL hasn't been great since early 2017, injuries happen, and our FO ...
simply put - Collins is average (and unpredictable) - Looney average - Williams is sub par with upside - Xavier can't pull - Fleming a good temp - Redman worthless
if we actually get Smith, Martin, and Frederick on the field and healthy ... great is possible again

- pounding the ball will always be part of this O but I think we often believe we're doing it better than we are,
for example. Zeke had a monster NFL best rushing yards, only 6 TDs on the ground,
plus Sue and Donald shut down our run game in a divisional playoff game
NEWSFLASH YOU HAVE TO OUT PLAY GUYS THAT GOOD TO WIN SBs
and note, 2 great DTs are far cheaper than 3 or 4 great OL

we all have ideas about what we'd like but ... the 2019 O will probably look a lot like what we saw second half of 2018
in the second half of 2018 the Boys were 7-1 (mostly because the O played faster, more 1st downs helped too)

Zeke went from 18x to 24x carries per game
Dak from passing 30x to 36x a game
that's another 12 plays per game (like 2 extra possessions)
notice the run/pass mix stayed the same

also note, Zeke's 24 carries a game are not sustainable

Of course they exist. But do I keep chasing to find one while ignoring other needs?

Don’t know what to tell you man. This draft has a bunch to choose from. No one said chase, definitely don’t neglect because of one big game

Tight end would be further down on my wish list. A second-year of Cooper and Gallup will prove quite a handful and I think our young tight ends can take up the slack. I would opt to keep our young Dynamic linebackers clean and get better defensive tackle play. Of course until proven otherwise coaching will remain the albatross staring this team in the face.

WRs on the outside are fine. We do not have a receiving presence in the middle if Beasley is not resigned. Dak is a QB who will greatly benefit from a BIG target in the middle of the field as an outlet. I guarantee that if we can get a good veteran TE and continue to develop our current crop of TEs Dak will not be sacked as frequently as he was last year.

I am on the boat for signing a vet TE while continue to develop the TEs on the roster unless someone falls to us on draft day. Another young TE is unlikely to pay dividend quickly and only makes TEs a crowded spot on roster.

1 td in the first 15 games is falling into place at te considering we had the leagues worst red zone Scoring offense . What is their 3rd down conversion rate .How effective will they be when our 3rd down hero spot played slot guy is Gone!!

Sounds like a bunch of more culda wulda shuldas to me!!! 5 + years and counting. When is the last time a te took over a playoff game. Not in My Lifetime. I was Embarressed to watch the 1 td in 15 game te core.

Our #2 wasn't all that special on paper either.

If you take out that game of padded stats again the Giants we had the laughing Stock #2 and te stats in the League. He's gonna Improve to this and he shoulda improved to that and Amari is gonna improve into Antonio browB, and swaim is gonna be Gronk, and Gallop is gonna be Harper.

I hear a bunch of culda wulda shuldas but when I look at the Stats all I see is Dak Zeke and Amari and a clutch 3rd down spot played slot wr .

What else do y'all see on paper in the Scoring and 3rd down conversions to think we can go from last to first.

3.5 skilled players out of 6 are great players. Dak, Zeke, Amari and Beasely. You can only count Beasely as .5 because he only gets 1/2 the snaps as the #2 outside wr even though he is CONSISTENTLY BETTER on critical passing downs
Our Def got outplayed by the Rams

If you look at how much of Philly's offense Zach Ertz is, it's understandable. They target the guy like 8 or 10 times a game. If we could get a TE that was anywhere near that impactful, it'd be great for the offense, absolutely.

TE?

Why, so he can score 3 TD's one game and then have zero plays drawn up for him the following game?

Even though I'm no OL guru, and I hate to say this because its not fun, but drafting an OL may just be the best way to continue keeping that investment at its peak. And the way the interior DL had issues when Woods was hurt in that last game tells me the trenches on that side of the ball needs addressed as well.

Nutshell, OL and DL for me are priorities 1 and 2 (not necessarily in that order)

It’s funny-most NFL people worth a damn love Dak, the goofy Romo lovers who appreciate losing seem to disagree.
