Interesting factoid from Broaddus on The Break today. Supposedly Garrett had wanted to call the plays next year, and the front office said No. Seems to imply that Moore will be given some rope.

That's consistent with some recent babbling from Jerry saying that if Moore gets any pushback from what he wants to do, he should let Jerry know and Jerry will straighten people out. Jerry says he wants innovation.

"I've said this to [Moore]: I want those new ideas," Jones said with a smile. "I want them fought for until the glass breaks. Squeal. Holler. If they're not being implemented, call me, but let's get in here and do the kinds of things we do to get the most out of a very talented roster.
that's really bad. that's jerry meddling and usually that leads to failure. so Jerry if you want a new coaching staff then just cut the chord, fire them and bring in new coaches, but you dictate how the team should operate at coaching level and tie their hands and then tell them to swim, and if true that moore should just go to Jerry, then that's by passing lines of authority in an organization which leads to failure of that organization.

this is not going to work out. Moore maybe a genius. I read a lot and seemingly he was born to coach as saying goes, but he is also a first year play caller and managing in game play calling and he willmake mistakes going against experienced and sr. DC of the league and the chess match that happens on game day.

I know many don't like garrett. and like to see anyone but garrett call the plays, but if moore is the OC and design plays and designs game plans for the week, then sharing the play calling on game day is the only way to go.

Can understand Garrett not wanting a first time play caller in a contract year. That said I'd like to see something different.
That's Garrett's fault for sticking with Linehan this time last year. Garrett stood up for Linehan, Linehan didn't come through, now Garrett is rightfully on the hot seat while being forced to carry a rookie inexperienced new playcaller. I don't feel sorry for Garrett.

I don't think that Jerry would usurp the authority of a proven coach. I just think that he's at his wit's end with Garrett coming up short and frustrating him. He gave both Garrett and Linehan even more influence and authority last season, when myself and many others believed he should have fired them both then.

And what he got for it were poor decisions and worse results. And then he had to go out and mortgage his 2019 1st round pick for Cooper to save the season, and Garrett's job by extension. Jerry knows he's built a quality roster, and now he's frustrated that Garrett still can't do much of anything with it.

He truly wants Garrett to succeed, but I think even Garrett's biggest supporter has reached the end of his patience

This is it.

If that's the case he should have fired Garrett but he hasn't.
Which just shows Jerry is a poor GM.
You either have confidence in the HC and let him get on with the job or get rid!

In this case he is setting a direction that he wants his coach to take. If the coach doesn't move the team toward that vision then they need to go. I think what he is saying is tell me if that is happening (it must have happened in the past). You could argue this is what gets head coaches fired. They don't implement the vision of the GM. Everyone is accountable in an organization. Everyone has a boss. Even owners of companies must sell their product/company to their customer. The customer is the ultimate boss and what the fans (customer) are saying is we are tired of the hard headed sticking with the old system.
Even after 23 years of poor performance Jerry is still making shed loads of money.
Show me where the fans are really making Jerry change anything.
Jerry will keep doing what he does until there is a major revolt from the fans and they stop attending/buying merchandise and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

It's a shame that the coach doesn't get to make important decisions, JJ has far too much involvement.

And we wonder why JG is still he HC, no good coach would want come here to be subjected to that.

JJ confident that no other coach wants to be here, the nfl is all out of puppets.

How much of a lame duck coach can Jason Garrett be at this point?

I like that Jerry is giving Moore this type of authority but its a joke that he is so against getting rid of Garrett that he would force this situation.

I think Dallas is going all in on Sean Payton after next season. I think everything we're seeing this year is just the bridge between Garrett and Payton.

Don't expect any big FA signings and don't expect a Dak extension.

why didn't they just go ahead and fire the head coach if this is true he has no power like I said for garrett to keep his job he will have to do something he has never done make the playoffs two years in a row and then win more than one playoff game this is just another wasted year in the next two years lots of this team will be taken apart by free agency you cant sign them all

Again, this highlights one of the big issues with this franchise - that Jerry has his mitts into everything.

No other franchise has a process where the owner picks the assistants for the HC and tells those assistants what they can and can't do while telling the HC to sit in the corner and be quiet.

I can't argue with that. This is another of Jerry's "half-way" deals, which never work out.

It's frankly bizarre but expected from this dysfunctional franchise and owner.

Most other owners would just fire the HC and start over if that had that little faith in the guy. But not here. Jerry thinks he can somehow building something around Garrett that will make him look better than he is.

It's idiotic. And it's cost us and some really good players, nearly a decade. He's an ignorant old fool.

And this is why Garrett is here. Good Moore bring in somewhat of a new offense. But Garrett is clearly a puppet to the core

I

I will say this.. I doubt not letting Garrett be the playcaller was solely his decision.

If they are smart enough to draft the way they draft then surely they are smart enough to see that these coaches offer them nothing on Sunday.

If/when Garrett is let go the line of coaches waiting to interview for this job will consist of a cactus and a tumbleweed. Garrett may or may not be a good coach but Jerry sure isn't doing him any favors either way.

That's the public Jerry talking. If there's one thing we'e learned from Jerry, it's that he sells, or tries to sell, the fans on what he thinks they want to hear.

What's said to Jason, et al in private may be a whole other matter...

This is exactly what it appears to be. Garrett's last stand. The ultimate in accountability. Earn yourself an extension or a firing. All I have asked for when it comes to him. But some people can't accept that because it's either too good or too bad to be true, depending on what side of the fence they're standing. Both sides of this deal have gotten out ahead of it and called it for exactly what it is. One more year to prove yourself or not.

Amen!!! Thank you, Mr. Jerry Jones!

I love that our owner is fighting to make our Offense more creative! This Offense has to get much more creative in order to catch up to the Rams, Chiefs, Saints, Colts, Seahawks and Patriots in the playoffs.
You seem to forget that it was the same Jerry Jones that hired all the previous coaches too!

I think he does a decent job of keeping some issues out of the news. He could be breathing fire in private.

this is a lot of the reason that the cowboys are not taken as a serious superbowl contender by vegas are the rest of the nfl to much jerry and Stephen and not enough of guys with real football ideas well at least garrett is on his last year so there is that
