This is just a reminder of the dysfunction within the Dallas Cowboys. People who think proven NFL head coaches are lining up to be the next guy working under old Jerry's thumb are kidding themselves. Rather than fire the HC he obviously has lost faith in, Jerry chooses to micromanage in the desperate attempt to prove he made the right choice. Another example of being the reason the Cowboys win is more important to JJ than winning any other way.

It's kind of pathetic that a man so successful in business needs to feed his ego at the expense of his team. Strange, really. JJ shouldn't believe he has anything left to prove in life but he continues to act as though he feels otherwise. I'm not holding my breath that his latest decisions will lead to any more success than all of the others he's made the last 20+ years because he refuses to address the root of the problem...himself.
Jake, I addressed some of this up above but I've spent a lot of my life around wealthy people, I am not wealthy but by circumstance have found myself around them. And some are self-made, not family money which are really the worst ones, but many are unfulfilled. I used to think you get that kind of money, life's a smooth highway but for some it's a rough road.

For some really wealthy people, it's like an eating disorder. They look in the mirror and don't like what they see and all the warts are magnified. They are outwardly wildly successful, as Booger is, but inside there is a hole that money cannot fill.

Booger is an interesting study. Got all the dough he can spend but he is driven to try and impress people like that boat. How many billionaires own one yet we have no idea of the value? He was actually affected health wise when Parcells made him take a back seat and he could no longer be a "celebrity". So hungry was he for the camera and mic that people in the office worried about his mental state, according to Broaddus.

I would have no problem at all if he finally did what he wants to do, coach. He's wanted that for so long, go for it. He's a positive kind of guy and his players seem to like him, all he would need is a good staff around him, which is all any of them need. Landry's, Parcells and Johnson's staffs were just as important as they were in their success and maybe why the last two couldn't recreate magic without them. Today's HC's are more admin guys than hands on guys anyway.

Interesting factoid from Broaddus on The Break today. Supposedly Garrett had wanted to call the plays next year, and the front office said No. Seems to imply that Moore will be given some rope.

https://www.dallascowboys.com/video/cowboys-break-can-dak-win-a-title

That's consistent with some recent babbling from Jerry saying that if Moore gets any pushback from what he wants to do, he should let Jerry know and Jerry will straighten people out. Jerry says he wants innovation.

"I've said this to [Moore]: I want those new ideas," Jones said with a smile. "I want them fought for until the glass breaks. Squeal. Holler. If they're not being implemented, call me, but let's get in here and do the kinds of things we do to get the most out of a very talented roster.

Not like we didnt already know this as common sense. Garrett kicked to the curb ONCE again. What does it say about Garrett that Jerry wants a 2nd year QB coach calling the plays and creating the offense? LOL

IDGIT proven dead wrong on Garrett once again.

It's a shame that the coach doesn't get to make important decisions, JJ has far too much involvement.

And we wonder why JG is still he HC, no good coach would want come here to be subjected to that.

Jones is indirectly pointing out how bad he think Garrett is with his offense and on game day. But he appears to love Garrett as a puppet figurehead. He will just continue to remove Garrett as much as possible from the football aspect and game day aspect of the team.

Sounds about right, keep the title but not much responsibility

Well, obviously, Jerry came forth and said what many of us have been wondering about. He plainly stated his intentions, in no uncertain terms, that he wants Kellen Moore to report to him if Garrett tries to prevent him from calling plays as he sees fit. Hopefully, JJ will stand by his resolve. I also hope that Moore wouldn't hesitate to report such an attempt by Garrett, if and when it occurs. In any case, it sounds encouraging. We'll see. ;)

It now appears, more than ever, that Jerry has lost all confidence in JG's ability to strategize well enough to produce a championship. I couldn't be more relieved to see Jerry's change of heart about JG's play calling acumen. To me, it's a breath of fresh air. Let's hope the results are as well. :)

I love how some people find a way to put a positive spin on Jerry's decisions, to the point of thanking him, despite him delivering nothing in over 20 years.

It seems to be a form of Stockholm Syndrome. Fans feel trapped by their loyalty and know the Joneses aren't going anywhere, so they embrace them.
If you don't like the product, get out of Dodge and go follow another team! Very simple. Nobody likes to hear a whining, disgruntled baby on a social forum. It's a free country. If you don't like the products being sold from a particular seller, go find another place to do your shopping. Nobody is forcing you to stay. I find it humorous from fools who complain about a seller and attack it's loyal customers, yet those whiners insist on remaining?

I honestly don't know how a man who calls himself a Head Coach can tolerate this level of interference from an owner. Garret has made north of 50 million in salary over the past 10 years. He can afford to walk away , but he apparently prefers the role of puppet and rolls over. Is it any wonder we can't field a team with any backbone when the going gets tough?

Jerry has given Moore carte blanche to do as he pleases with the offense and to heck with the head coach...........Now Garret will literally be a figure head on the sideline with no authority to do anything but call timeouts and throw challenge flags. How in the world is he supposed to stand in front of this team and command respect? Lead them into battle?

Amen!!! Thank you, Mr. Jerry Jones!

I love that our owner is fighting to make our Offense more creative! This Offense has to get much more creative in order to catch up to the Rams, Chiefs, Saints, Colts, Seahawks and Patriots in the playoffs.
You're happy that Jerry has to undermine the same coach he hired? How dysfunctional is your family, and what are Thanksgivings like?

What I find humorous are fans who feel personally insulted if someone criticizes Jerry. :muttley:

I've been a Cowboys fan for over 45 years - long before Jerry bought the team - so I'll stick around as long as I like. That doesn't mean I'll swallow whatever garbage he's selling, nor do I feel obliged to do so. I'll give Jerry credit as soon as he accomplishes something this century, without Jimmy's leftovers.

In this case he is setting a direction that he wants his coach to take. If the coach doesn't move the team toward that vision then they need to go. I think what he is saying is tell me if that is happening (it must have happened in the past). You could argue this is what gets head coaches fired. They don't implement the vision of the GM. Everyone is accountable in an organization. Everyone has a boss. Even owners of companies must sell their product/company to their customer. The customer is the ultimate boss and what the fans (customer) are saying is we are tired of the hard headed sticking with the old system.
Nobody is accountable in this organization, it literally prints its own money on the backs of stupid ticket purchasers, year in, year out.

So Garrett is FINALLY removed from the offense. How long did that take? Another boring year of predictable offense.

Maybe so but it's hard to say exactly whether Moore will be predictable or not at this point. He hasn't been afforded a solid chance to prove it, as yet. There's no choice but to give him a chance to prove himself. He's supposedly been given the autonomy to do so by Jerry. If that fails, it's remotely possible Garrett would be sent packing, possibly with Moore to follow. Like most of us, I'm hoping for effective change. The so-called "process" in Dallas isn't given to expediency, that's for sure. They're pretty paranoid when it comes to making changes.

I'm inclined to give him time to prove himself, since he's reportedly been given the autonomy to do so by Jerry. I am holding my breath as well. But at least Jerry kicked Garrett to the curb again on calling plays. Jones has demanded a different looking offense and a change to play calling and creativity. That should produce something.

LOL -- I'm clinging to some semblance of hope, even though it's kinda hanging by a thread. It's high time for change, that's for sure!
