Interesting factoid from Broaddus on The Break today. Supposedly Garrett had wanted to call the plays next year, and the front office said No. Seems to imply that Moore will be given some rope.

That's consistent with some recent babbling from Jerry saying that if Moore gets any pushback from what he wants to do, he should let Jerry know and Jerry will straighten people out. Jerry says he wants innovation.

"I've said this to [Moore]: I want those new ideas," Jones said with a smile. "I want them fought for until the glass breaks. Squeal. Holler. If they're not being implemented, call me, but let's get in here and do the kinds of things we do to get the most out of a very talented roster.
The problem is deeper than just calling the plays. It involves developing a game plan each week and scheming to target a teams weakness or defensively to take away a teams strength. Also having an alternate plan and watching plays during the game and adjusting to what the other team is doing. Moore cant do everything and he will have to have the assistants on the same page as him.

Very true, but Jerry has done this before in 2013 when he took playcalling from Jason and gave it to Callahan. Jason secretly took it back near the end of the season, and Jerry had to again remove it from Jason's duties and made him find another OC that would call plays.

I still theorize it was Tony who went to Jerry and told him we need someone else because Jason simply isn't very good at it -- I can't think of any other reason why Jerry would forcibly remove playcalling from his adopted son HC who wanted to do it himself. It's probably why Jerry still knows to not let Jason do it.
I'll go a step further: It's also the reason Garrett wouldn't let Tony compete for his job when he was healthy. Garrett saw his opportunity to jettison Romo and he took it. I've been called a fool for even theorizing it but it certainly makes SOME sense, IMHO.

I don't think it was Garrett's call but he didn't fight hard enough for Romo and I think that's what cooled their relationship. Don't see picks of them at basketball games or Chuck E. Cheese anymore. If the owner is making the call on the coaches the HC can have, he sure as hell isn't letting him make the call on the starting QB.
