Will Jerry ever bring in a proven HC again?

So many flame out, I don't know. But how many of the retreads like Fox and Turner make it either?

A lot is made of McVay's rise and he is a smart guy but the pieces were all there and they gave him a vet DC, another example of a coordinator failing as a HC, so all he had to do was fix the offense.

What fascinates me is that these coordinators get hired because of a breakthrough year like Marvin Lewis and he never comes close to recreating his BAL defense, same goes for Turner and his DAL offense and the latest is Quinn in ATL, where's the defense?
Yep

And why it’s all about the talent with rare exception. Schemes help if you have the talent.

He was leaving anyway because he never intended on making Dallas his home, the sea was calling. He was already making plans to get back to Florida but Booger accelerated that with getting drunk and all butthurt about the lack of respect they were showing him.

And how could he ask for respect when every coach at that table knew Wannstedt had to talk Jimmy into coming into the war room because Booger had asked him to make it look like it was really his draft by looking at him for approval on each pick. Jimmy was already mentally on the boat. He built the team for Booger and delivered one of the best teams of all time and now this guy was wanting to steal some credit? What a fragile ego Jones has to even ask his coach and at the time, friend, to do that.

I don't care how much money he makes or what he buys, Booger will always be a pathetic character in my eyes, looking for any camera or mic to shine a light on him.
This, 1,000,000 % correct. Maybe Jimmy might have been looking to leave in the near future but Jerry acted like an absolute child. If he had the personality of Robert Kraft, maybe Jimmy never leaves or at least not for a long while. But we will never know.

Jerry is anything but a failure

He has 3 rings, HoF, new Stadium, new Practice Campus, 250 yacht and the team is worth 5b for a 160m investment

SJones is too cheap and needs to get some wildcatting from his Daddy.... he can Draft well but he needs to spend some FA money
What has he done as GM, other than hiring Jimmy Johnson? As a GM, he is a straight up failure, and woukd have been fired after 3 years if he were GM if any team that held him accountable

Fan reaction when that time comes will be very telling.
If we don't get to another conference champ b4 he dies then the reaction will be cheers. He was great for football and bad for cowboy's fans.

If you are a great coach you can overcome talent. Look at the Patriots. I would say 90% of their starters would be trash on another team.
Yes but they have talent at the most critical position which is elevating those around him.

I’d argue 90% is probably a stretch. And they usually have some studs on defense but I’d agree to some extent and why I’ve adopted the saying “ Brady and the 2nd stringers”. Lol

Lol true. But look at Van Noy the guy was a bum backup on the Lions. traded for a bag of chips. Think they have a 5th round rookie LB who's starting. Their starting LT I think was a UDFA. Yes Brady is good but Belichek's scheme and player acquisition is phenomenal. He picks players for his scheme like Grep Pop does in San Antonio. When players leave New England how good are they? Jamie collins was a pro bowl LB in New england. Nate solder was an all world LT now look at him on the giants he was not good this past season. They just won a super bowl giving up 3 points. It aint brady. They have had a top 10 defense for almost 20 years in a row. Shoot marinelli's defense can't hold a team in the playoffs to 3 points in the first 2 drives of the game.

I’m not sure why he was great for football ?

He’s been a major contributor to lessening the product while revenues have boomed. Basically everything Jerry has accomplished in recents years has increased the glitter without any glory.

Does anyone really believe the NFL is a greater product this era. Like many things in this country it’s become bigger not better.

-------things will probably be worse under his cheap son

I agree....I've done a 180 on Stephen. I honestly cannot figure him out anymore...he acts as if every dollar spent is directly being removed from his inheritance.

I believe it’s a combination of both; the greatest defensive guru this era along with the greatest clutch QB the league has ever seen.

He negotiated a lot of deals for the nfl and brought them in a ton of money. So he was able to help make the league what it has become.
