If you think Dak is signing for anything less than $30 mil you're not thinking straight.
But he will. The people who are not thinking straight are those who want to lowball him. I think 25M per gets it done if done soon.

It's gonna take more than 25M if he plays out the final year and has a great year.

If he has a great year and leads us to a Championship or Superbowl, I honestly wouldn't mind giving him 25+ mil. But as of now, he has only shown us flashes of being on that caliber of being a Superbowl Bound QB

Heard the idea thrown out (didn't read every post so apologies if it was mentioned). Would Dak sign a 4 year deal at $23 mil/year that was fully guaranteed? He would be young enough to sign another deal in 4 years (win for him) and the team could more easily survive if he doesn't get markedly better in a different offensive philosophy.

Question. Do you guys want him to get paid 30m a year? Are you okay with this? Do you think he truly deserves it or are you just going by the "market" numbers?

Unfortunately, His agent is the guy that works for Aaron Donald, who has a deal worth 135 million dollars for 6 years. Not a very good look as of now money wise....

We will see.
lol...and if the NFL doesn't get it's own house in order, a $20 + million contract will start to bankrupt teams. This was a pretty good season, but turning games around at the whim of an official is NOT football.

I'm not Pro-ownership. I want the players to get their coins. I'm not a capologist and not many of people here are. I'm not a believer that it sets the franchise back for 10 years if it doesn't work out. I now have faith in this organizations ability to draft new players because I'm aware that you can't keep everyone. For years, cap hell has been exaggerated around here for years. Lastly, we can do worse than Dak and the 2020 class ain't coming in and being a better QB than Dak is now. Some yall just don't like Dak, and that's fine. Can't let that get in the way of this decision.

LOL......as opposed to letting him walk and ruining the team?

Maybe you didn't notice the cap room we have accumulated JUST for this EXACT thing.

Yes because Aaron Rodgers has won multiple Super Bowls since he got paid..

And I’m not saying to let him walk, we gotta haggle...

So, you don't think ANY QB can come in and be better than Dak?

You don't think Mayfield is better than Dak? Mahomes (even though this is his 2nd year)?

If I was Dak I wouldn't want to stay in Dallas. He's getting huge money regardless of if he stays or goes, but as long as Garrett is the head coach he'll never be developed to his potential or play in a modern NFL offense.

Chicken or egg? Many believe Dak lacks the tools to run a "modern NFL offense". Specifically, vision, anticipation, timing, and accuracy. You think Garrett runs the same offense if he has Brees at QB? No way. Troy Aikman knows a thing or two about this- did you read what he said on this very issue?

Dak has tools no doubt. He's an average to slightly above average QB, that will certainly command a large salary given the economics of the league.

You seem to have forgotten Ryan, Stafford, Cousins, Carr, Rodgers, Garappolo, (Alex) Smith.

Need I go on?
Raiders have been rebuilding for years. And you did nothing but improve my case. They have all these weapons (in which I haven't heard of any of them from the Lions), yet they still didn't make the playoffs? Why? They. Paid. The. QB. Too. Much.

Like I said before, I want to keep Dak. I really do. But I look at these teams and can't help but feel like we'll be in the same situation if we give him 25 mil+. Like you said before, with Kitna coming in, Moore becoming the OC, and giving Dak, Amari, and even Gallup time to make chemistry during the offseason, he could very well be entering his prime years. But if he asks for that much money, his prime years won't last long without any offensive weapons or a good defense to help him. Look at Patrick Mahomes who fought very hard in the Championship game only to be let down by his defense. Twice. If Dallas can't pay the defense because the QB wanted extensive money, we'll look the same with a lesser explosive offense.

Thats your dumbed down theory. We went over like 8 teams and all you have to talk about is he Raiders now? Chucky just came in and took that place apart. They didnt make the playoffs because he traded away all his great players. If you cant even see that there is no point having a discussion.

The problem with the Cowboys is NOT talent, its coaching. If they dont sign Dak they might as well rebuild as they will miss at least the next 3-5 year window.

This team is primed for a 3-5 year run. Personally, there is no way I pay Zeke, but thats just me. Dak will need to do more of carrying this team going forward. I would spend the money on the line and have a stable of mildly paid RB's coming in and out.

I would be more apt to trade Zeke right now for two firsts or a first and second.

Man I hope we take advantage of the remaining year and extend him this offseason so we can have a cheap QB for the next five-six years instead of just one more cheap year.

Not to mention, each year you wait is an extra $1.5-$3M AAV added to his contract

YOU ARE INSANE :lmao2:

Trade ZEKE? What happened last time we didn't have Zeke (besides Week 17)? Dak fell apart. Dak needs Zeke or at least a good running game in order to get things going. There is NOOOO way I trade Zeke for ANYTHING. I doubt we'd even be in the playoffs without him! I kinda saw your point before about Dak being a good solid QB and it being hard to replace him, but you are going WAY to far at this point. Dak needs Zeke. Not the other way around.

If they don't sign Dak, they won't be in that much trouble. The team is great as is (minus the HC). If they got a new HC like Belichick or McVay, and/or a new QB in the next year or 2 instead of signing an INSANE 30 mil contract, this team will be in a prime longer than 3-5 years.

People really aren't thinking if they believe Dak gets 30m a season. Do the math, that's 150m over 5-years. But right now we have Dak locked away for two-years as follows.
2019 - 800k
2020 - 26m (estimated franchise tag)
Total: 26.8m

So Dak is locked away for two years at 14.4m a season and there's very little he can do about it. For him to get his 30m a season as people are suggesting, on a 5-year contract, he needs to earn 123.2m for his last three years. That's 41.6m a season........not a realistic reflection of the market.

Kirk Cousins was a free agent that had been franchise twice. His situation is very different, he's negotiating with multiple teams, with no restrictions. If Dak demands ridiculous money, and Jerry doesn't pay, he can't go anywhere else for two, maybe three years, and risks a hell of a lot of money by waiting.

So Dak takes a discount, not for altruistic reasons, but because of the situation he is in. The reason Dak takes a discount are:
1. He can only negotiate with Dallas
2. A new contract removes the risk of playing without a long-term contract
3. Money has a time value. Paid today is worth more than paid in 2-3 years
4. Endorsements at Dallas are more than most other markets
5. Texas has no state tax

Dak gets at most 6-years 140m with 50m guaranteed. That's what peak Aaron Rogers would get if in Dak's situation. That works out to be 23.3m per season. Anything more and Dallas is getting massively fleeced.

Your guesses as to what would happen and who benefits from who more couldn't be further from the truth.

Hopefully you'll learn.
