Non-guaranteed contracts and brain damage. Good choice!

Joking (mostly), but good for him for having the fortitude to pick what he wants to do and going for it. Hopefully he ends up in the right spot and has success.

One thing that helps the decision is if he fails out of football, he’ll be 25 and can just go right back into the A’s farm system. That’s what Drew Henson got wrong... he would still be paid millions to play baseball if he picked the other way around.

Also, minor league bus rides SUCK. He’ll be treated like a Star day 1 in the NFL.

Murray is immaterial to this team. He goes top 10 and the Cowboys aren’t in it.
They’ll resign Dak to a $25 million per year and it will be our Bortles contract for the next 4 years. Jerry will pass away or become too infirm to make decisions on the roster and Stephen will either hire good people to help him or go down the path his daddy took to perdition.

I’m also worried about Murray’s size. Height is 1 thing to overcome, but the fact that he’s a scrambler/runner and weighs about 190 soaking wet could be a big issue. He’s going to have to commit to the weight room and bulk himself up if he wants to have a sustained career

Yeah, too bad that mayfield guy never worked out

Mayfield has some game but lets tap the breaks a little.

He's got a lot of turnovers in him.

Besides. I could care less if they went to the same school or played in the same conference.

Mayfield and Mahomes have been exceptions so far as to how well big 12 QB's transition to the Pro's.

Not only does Murray have to overcome the obstacle of being from that conference he also has to overcome the obstacle of being tiny.

It's difficult to judge these big 12 QB's in wide open offense when the defenses they play against are a little better then air.

Then the guy goes out and gets shut down against Alabama until Alabama starts playing soft so they don't give up a big lead and Alabama's defense was nothing special either but still far better then anything the big 12 has to offer.

Then why even bring up the big 12 if you could care less what conference?

You're right. I don't know why I said I don't care about the conference. I was just ranting and threw that in because I actually do care about that conference and the difficulty it presents when watching a QB who plays on the best team with the best offense just annihilate everyone in a conference that has no defense from top to bottom.

I just don't care to compare Mayfield and Murray because even though they played at the same school Mayfield, as tiny as he is at 6'1, is still a giant compared to the 5'9 Kyler Murray.

Kyler Murrays style, size, and conference he played in are all things he will have to overcome because not many guys have.

The QB's winning championships just don't play his brand of football and the guys who did play his brand of football didn't do it at Tavon Austins size.

I don’t necessarily agree with the conference thing. Yes, going to a school that runs an NFL offense and plays SEC defenses every week is a better indicator of a QB’s skill, but I don’t believe he’s somehow less able than a QB that went to UCLA or Cal or Pitt. You can identify talent whatever the system. Now maybe it’s more likely he’s a fraud because of the big 12, but how many exceptions does it take before they’re the precedent?

Romo, Flacco, Wentz, and Garoppolo went to 1-AA, but the talent was apparent and it translated. I don’t think they’ve ever been exceptions to any rule, there’s just less likeliness FCS QBs work out. But when the talent is obvious... there you go.

As far as the height thing, 5 years ago I would have agreed with you. But Vick in Philly becoming an accurate(ish) passer, Brees becoming the greatest statistical passer ever, Now Russell Wilson... there aren’t nearly as many examples of short qbs failing specifically because they were short as there are ones who succeeded despite their height. Manziel is the only major one I can think of (in that timeframe), and his shortcomings had nothing to do with how well he could see over the pocket.

Now I wouldn’t draft Murray because of his physical stature and baseball flip-flopping. Football desire kills more careers than injury. But I would be willing to give him a shot if I was the Giants and he could somehow convince me he could up his weight beyond that of a small slot CB. He’s gonna get broken in half.

Baker is 6' and 210 pounds.

But who is to say he actually worked out.
It's been one season. He was 6-7 with a 55 QBR.
He had 14 INT and 7 fumbles.

and set the all-time passing TD record for a rookie in only 13 games.

I think you should be concerned when a player falls outside the typical H/W parameters but do not believe you should feel it can't be overcome.

Kyler is electric and should fare quite well in a leaque that has grown open to current college concepts.

If he goes to Cards and ends up with KK, that duo could be truly nasty.
