What DE’s will be there at 58?

imo DE bigger priority than TE,Taco is a bust.
Not a bust just a normal draft talent at his slot in the draft, we have been spoiled by McClay with his quick performing picks from the past. Taco is what normally happens when you pick that late in the first round for need. I agree the path for Taco will be defined this year, maybe bust maybe better things either way year three as they say separates the wheat from the chafe and either way I still have complete trust in the scouts.

The more concerning thing other than his poor workout was his behavior and attitude.

There's no way in hell I would take him in the first round. The biggest job interview he'll ever have in his life and this is what he does? He's a complete idiot and that will follow him into the NFL.

Jerry is still trying to recreate the 90's teams that mostly had jags on the d-line, with the exception of Haley and maybe Maryland, using a rotation to keep the rush fresh. That can work if you get just the right combination of average linemen, but there's some luck involved there...

~I also like Charles Omenihu,Texas...6'6...long arms...good pass rusher and is good vs the run...at least in the games I watched he was.

He had a pretty nice combine. He's also 280 right now so he has some room to get bigger as well. A lot of people may forget, he actually started as a FB so he probably isn't the finished product he will be if he gets the right coaching. I really like him as well and he is somebody who should definitely be there for us as an option.

I’d agree, DT is more important to me as well but DE just skyrocketed up the needs list so it should be a consideration for us in the 2nd.

I can't agree. A lot depends on Lawrence staying, and I think he will. Assuming that, Cowboys have Lawrence, Taco, Armstrong, Jones and Crawford (listed as a DE). While not a known top group, that's 5 guys, only 2 play at a time. That leaves 3 backups for 2 spots. While I'd consider DE to be a need, to say it's way up the list of needs is too strong for me.

I'd say DE need is overshadowed by several other areas, such as OT. There you only have Smith, who's had and will undoubtedly continue to have injury issues, Collins, who's only solid at best, and Fleming, whose in his 5th year and hasn't shown a whole lot. Again, 2 play at a time, what happens if Smith is out a couple of games and Collins gets hurt? Gotta pull a guard out to play one tackle spot. Bare minimum of depth there.

Even safety - Heath and Frazier have their shortcomings, Woods is inconsistent, after that you have guys like Huff, Showers and Thompson, a veritable "who?" bunch.

As I said, a lot depends on getting Lawrence signed or tagged, but I'm more concerned with OT and S than DE, at least at this point...

Not at 58, we already had Taco as a 28th pick as a "project" player, per the Cowboys themselves, if we take a DE at 58 he's can't be someone who's still learning the position...

I don't know why not. Taco doesn't work. not because of his skills. He doesn't work because of his attitude. They are not the same player but whatever. Truth is, you have no idea who might be available at where we pick or how quickly who goes off the board. We may not have a lot of choice by the time our pick rolls around and BTW, I never said in the 2nd. I said he would likely be available.

Well said about the luck, we have had plenty.
