They have facilities in Colorado, Cali, Washington, and a few others that makes Medicinal Marijuana and there are countless testimonies of people beating cancer as well as other issues....

Again, if this were factual the pressure on the government and the FDA would be enormous. An actual cure for cancer being found? And the government hid it under a rug because it is derived from a plant they deem to be illegal? No one in Washington would survive that.

Maybe we're not supposed to find a cure for cancer. Natures way of keeping the population from exploding any more than it already has.

I completely understand several posters different opinions & point of views. However, for some dumb reason, I truly believe Irving is smoking the almighty weed for the justification of getting high & not for the aches/pains he endures.

After all, he's just a 25 yr old kid & not a retired 50+ NFL player. Just my guess of his persona.

Sure it would. If the NFL or teams do not actively test for weed then a player would not be suspended for a failed test. That is totally separate from a player being arrested for doing something illegal.
That's true but they're not going against the feds on this issue.

Agreed. It is still against Federal law but the other leagues deal with it. I would imagine they have rules no weed on flights to avoid this very issue.

One owner has spoken out about not testing for pot, and also wanted to do away with investigations into off field behavior, and the rest have not spoken out. However, I think they'd just as soon that never be a part of the substances banned but to remove it would send a message to congress about their action on a federal law and since they get a pass on antitrust, they would not want to ruffle any feathers. I do think the public would be fine with it going away.

As far as this being a CBA bargaining chip, why? How many players do you think smoke it? I think more than we think. And how many are careless enough to get caught? A handful and they end up as repeat offenders. Think the majority is willing to give up anything for players that are not careful enough to not get caught?

Personally, I think the NFL should stay out of anything to do with the players' off the field behavior unless the law is involved. No conviction, no foul.

I'm very pro weed but it's not a miracle drug. Lol

Y'all do realize there is a difference between medical marijuana and the pot you buy from your local dealer? Lol when I see someone like Irving videoing himself getting high and talking about pills and addiction and it should be legal or whatever dumb **** he talked about, I laugh. He's smoking it because he wants to get high. If it was about injuries and pain he could get a Dr to prescribe it to him.

I have no issue with Irving getting high, I think it should be legal in all states for recreation use but it's not. So dont get on the , it's good for pain when it's really about just getting high

Let's not act like there isnt a down side and negative about pot, specifically the **** you by from your local dealer. It can help with mental disorders but also cause them. I have my pot head friends who actually try to say they drive better on it. Lol which is the dumbest shot ever. But I also have friend's who say the same thing about alcohol.

At the end of the day I think it should be legal for recreational use and it's no more dangerous than alcohol and actually less dangerous. But to make it out to be a miracle drug that has no harm just isn't true. Just because it's a plant that grows from earth doesn't mean it can't harm you. Poison ivy does to, you going to run out and rub that **** on you?
its not a miracle drug but it does help with the problems Gordon and Gregory are dealing with. For them its better then being sprung on chemical drugs that wiould be given to them, rather going the natural route to cope with it. The same thing players are doing with injuries. They'd rather use marijuana to deal with the pain then inject themselves with adderall or toradol which are much more addictive and have worse side effects.

Do they even test for it? I remember when this issue popped up with the NBA years ago and the players' assn said no way.

The problem is the NFL would draw attention to it by removing it. Let the legal system and the individual teams deal with that. However, if the NFLPA did make that a critical point then they could give in as a way of ending the lockout that most think is coming. Make it look like they were forced to do it and when the last CBA was done, pot was not legal for recreational use anywhere in the US. And the Feds have stopped threatening the states that do legalize it. That was the only reason it failed in CA the first time, they were threatened with federal intervention.

The problem with the feds isn't the idea of decriminalizing or making it legal, it is the alcohol and pharm lobbyists "contributions".

I think it should be legal and don't think the nfl should test for it. But it's not and they do.

Has anyone ever thoght that some of their problems is from smoking pot At a early age? Like I said earlier, pot can help with mental disorders but it can cause them as well. Its worst when you smoke it as a teen.

Pot is legal here in Washington, but if any of the Hawks get caught they are still held to the same rules the rest of the NFL is under.

My current job has the same stupid rule. I can lose my job on the spot if I took any form of pot on my vacation or a weekend, even if I come to work sober if I test positive for it, because it’s still illegal on a national level.

This country needs to pull its head out of its *** (mainly the politicals) when it comes to weed.

What is the point of the video? The patient admits he was in possession of an illegal substance, and then tries to play the "what if" games with the officer. The officer is simply doing his job which, by the way, refusing to do so will cost him his career. So again, why was the video made? Was is it to to garner public sympathy, or crucify an officer for doing his job? The patient KNOWS he is breaking the law, no matter how insignificant some might think it is, and appears to play it off as though the officer is wasting his time.

It might not seem this way, but I'm actually on board with the medical use of oil, smoking, or whatever way someone thinks it might help them with their issues. Just do it legally if you have the means to do so. The guy making the video knows he is breaking the law, so all he did is build a case against himself by making a video of the search. Chances are he doesn't get convicted, but he sure made it easy for the local D.A. to at least take a case to the Grand Jury.

Alcohol is legal in the entire country, but no employer will allow you to drink on the job. Is that also a stupid rule? Say you live in downtown Seattle (I'm using Seattle as an example since you live in Washington) and rely on public transportation to get around. Would you want the bus or taxi drivers driving around drunk?

Is it really that difficult to just follow rules? My employer says no drug use and no drinking on the job. I say "ok" because I like the job and it pays good. End of story.

The statements by the cowboys and patriots on Gregory and Gordon are very similar in the way they were put out. Preaching support for the player and mentioning the illness they are suffering from. Both have been and are in treatment facilities. Theres documented proof these guys are sick and this is a natural use to treat the illness.

There's going to be a lot of doctor's supplementing their salary if this happens because A LOT of players are suddenly going to need "documented proof" of this sickness in order to get high all the time. Pretty soon they'll be passing a joint around on the sidelines during games. How many people here would still be employed with their companies if they brought in a doctor's excuse to get high?

I have no issues with people smoking pot. But if you have to use your job as an excuse to get high, you need to find a different career. If football is hurting your body that bad, quit and smoke all the pot you want. Lets revisit Irving in a couple years and see how well it works out for him...

Is the marijuana really helping with the pain or are they simply getting so stoned they don't realize their knee, shoulder, etc hurts? It could be just a mental thing. A placebo affect.

Pain itself is just a mental thing.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic, but I would agree for the most part. I have a much higher pain threshold than most people I know.

Rare post where I wasn't being sarcastic at all. Pain is just your brain interpreting signals. Any way you can fool your brain into ignoring those signals, you are effectively dealing with the pain. It not like prescription pain killers are "curing" the pain (or what's causing it) and weed is just masking it.

This video just shows how ridiculous people are about a harmless plant. The guy is dying, let him die in peace...

Apparently the guy wasn't so bad off he thought it was necessary to record his encounter with the police, knowing full well he was breaking the law. If you want to be technical, we're all 'dying' to some extent, its just that some of us are going to die sooner than the rest. Knowing that we're all going to die, I guess that makes it ok to break the law. Let us die in peace, right? Robert Kraft is more than likely going to die years before I do, so he shouldn't be prosecuted for breaking the law by soliciting prostitution. Let the guy have a little fun before he kicks the bucket, right?

The cop wasn't being ridiculous, he was just doing his job.
