This is my first of many trips to the draft simulator. It doesn't seem as fun as last year without a first round pick but I'm thinking of Cooper as our first round pick.

Round 1 Amari Cooper WR

58: R2P26 S Amani Hooker Iowa Chauncey Gardner-Johnson was also available and graded 5.9 but Hooker sounds like he might have better instincts.
https://www.nfl.com/prospects/amani-hooker?id=3219484f-4f28-9885-74ca-b4eda13809f8

90: R3P26 WR Andy Isabella UMASS
I think he could upgrade our offense and special teams and he would be cheaper than Beasley.
https://www.nfl.com/prospects/andy-isabella?id=32194953-4156-2722-bf26-62181351a224

128 R4P26 DL Greg Gaines Washinton
I'm still getting a feel for the d lineman but he looks intriguing in the fourth round, a high motor DT with some get off and a strong anchor.
https://www.nfl.com/prospects/greg-gaines?id=32194741-4930-6107-f124-700597b356aa

136 R4P34 RB Trayveon Williams Texas A&M
We've shown some interest in him and he sounds like a high character alpha player that is well rounded as a pass blocker and receiver.
https://www.nfl.com/prospects/trayveon-williams?id=32195749-4c18-5325-3179-dd521a18c706

165 R5P27 TE Kahale Warring SDSU
He sounds like he needs some development but could turn into the Blocking/Receiving TE that we need. Good size and speed make him worth a fifth round pick.

I don't mind the Greg Gaines pick in day 3. Limited/no upside against the pass, but seems to be a day 1 guy in obvious run downs.

Would be happy with either safety at 58

You added 5 players that I think would all make the team and could contribute. Good job!

Thats the trouble with the current software it is not a very good predictor at this point in time 2019. Its real value is knowing how the talent is stacked at each position. IMO

Too early for Isabella.

Gaines looks like a udfa.

OK on Williams.

The TE Warring is projected to the 2nd round on a couple of draft sites that I reviewed.

I really like the way Warring plays. He has an edge and looks like he's ready for a fight. He is a good blocker and runs well.

Just ran this mock this morning, the picks are partly based on what I've been reading and players the Cowboys have shown interest in. I show Cooper as our number one draft pick since we traded our fist to get him. It takes some of the bite out of not having one.
Round 1 Amari Cooper WR

58: R2P26 S Juan Thornhill Virginia
Some of the higher rated safeties sound like box safeties with average coverage skills and instincts. I like Thornhill's combination of range (4.42 40), coverage skills, and instincts. As the overview says his versatility could allow him to play different positions in sub packages.

Overview
Three-year starter who proved he could bring his instincts and ball skills with him from cornerback to safety in 2018. Thornhill's size and cover talent should allow defensive coordinators the freedom to deploy him around the field in a variety of ways depending on the matchups and his running mate at safety. While he could garner consideration as a corner, safety gives him his best opportunity to become an early starter.

Strengths
  • NFL size and wingspan for the position
  • Former cornerback with carryover ball-hawking mentality
  • Works eyes from ball to receiver to ball again with no issues picking it back up
  • Recognition of route combos gives him head-start on throws
  • Effective playing with back to the ball
  • Treats every target like it is thrown to him
  • Crowds receivers and outworks them for catch space
  • Quick trigger to challenge dig routes
  • Rangy to get to deep part of the field in coverage
  • Can line up over slot on matchup tight ends
  • Athleticism to handle open-field tackling in wide-open space
  • Runs the alley with good pursuit pace
  • Closes distance and drives through runner's legs to finish
https://www.nfl.com/prospects/juan-thornhill?id=32195448-4f54-9495-af73-48eb17033beb

90: R3P26 DL Khalen Saunders Western Illinois
Small school DT that could be a rotational 3T for us.
Strengths
  • Quick, strong slaps to displace blocker's hands and separate from the block
  • Potential to become above average hand-fighter if he plays faster
  • Above average feel for side-stepping or clubbing lateral blocks
  • Able to split double teams when he's allowed to work the A-gap
  • Slap-swim is go-to as quick-win move off the snap
  • Better athletic ability than expected with tight-quarter twitch
  • Bounding feet to make sudden attacks to blocker's edge or spin out of blocks.

128: R4P26 CB Isaiah Johnson Houston
We had early interest in him and he sounds like a Richard type player. Good day three value.

Strengths

  • Carries imposing height, length and long speed
  • Accurate punch from press to hinder the release
  • Quick-twitch to match route breaks in his transitions
  • Speed to stay hip-to-hip with receivers
  • Excellent recovery speed to close out loose targets
  • Former wideout with above average ball skills
  • Long arms are challenging to throw over from trail coverage
  • Natural in recognition of route combos, ball tracking and high-pointing the ball
  • Adequate play strength to push past receivers in run support
  • Punt gunner with ability to run away from jammers

136: R4P34 RB Mike Weber Ohio State
When I saw that Bobby Belt said he was one of our official 30 visits I watched his highlights on youtube and liked what I saw. The way he breaks tackles reminds me a little of Emmitt Smith. He also looks good as a receiver, has experience in the read option, and has a nice jump cut.

165: R5P27 WR Stanley Morgan Nebraska
With the Cobb signing I don't know if they're in the WR market but Broaddus said they really like Morgan and for a day three pick he was good value here.
Strengths
  • Operates with consistently good play speed and urgency
  • Leverages open catch windows from the top of his route
  • No hesitation attacking over the middle
  • Excellent catch focus inside congested areas
  • Above-average ball skills and body control
  • Climbs ladder to pluck it at the high-point
  • Impressive ability to rescue low throws
  • Alters speed for downfield ball adjustments
  • Quick after catch with wiggle to elude early tackle attempts
  • Willing to put in work as perimeter blocker.

241: R7P27 TE Kahale Warring SDSU
He probably won't be there in round 7 but I went with the simulator. Having already shown some ability at the college level, he could be the athletic TE we hoped Rico would be
