Really glad we gave up a first for a skill position as well rather than having a first to address the defense since we don't do anything in FA.

I'd like to win a Superbowl at some point and not be a fringe wildcard team that gets eliminated so quickly.

Being a smart spender has gotten us nowhere and the best safety in football who we tried to trade for and played under our defensive coordinator just signed with Baltimore to waste away his career.

I don't believe signing Earl meant we weren't going to be a wild card team anyway. IMO, if you are willing to pay that much for Earl then I'm going to question why you didn't spend that money on two starters on your team. To me its smarter to spend that money on two starters than it is to spend it on Earl Thomas.

I loved the idea of Earl on this team and I wish we did cave in. But its not smart business.

Wonder if all of this falls under Stephen’s definition of being “aggressive” in free agency. It’s almost like we are being lied to

Yeah but it didn't matter. When they traded for him they were still going to give him a contract this year. That point is moot. Unless you are insinuating they wanted him as a one year rental?IT makes no sense.
HE wanted even more money last year.
No, not a one year rental. I agree that would have been a waste of a second round pick (like Golden Tate and haha did to our friends in Philly and Washington). I’m saying they were probably going to tear up his current deal and sign him to, say, a 3 year deal... meaning he would now be entering year two of his 3 year deal.

It’s all speculation though.

We're at the point of the off-season where it no longer matters. This team will not improve themselves in free agency no matter what they end up doing. The real upgrades are gone. It's on to the draft with no first round pick and in the meantime look for their QB to become the most overpaid player in the league as they waste more years with him under center.

This team is pathetic...we needed to make the team better and instead lost Beasley and Wilsin, pissed off Dlaw making us worse. Oh yeah we got 300 year old 6.7sec Witten back. Screw you Jones
I was going to post the same. Regardless of what you think of these players losing them(Beasley and Irving), did not make us better. We're worse off than when the season ended. I'm not angry though. I've become numb to it all.

Remember Risen, Stephen said only a few weeks ago that the status quo isn't acceptable. That they have to build on what they have done and that what they did last year isn't good enough.

And then he took a nap on the poop deck of his dad's new toy.

I had interest in a young 22 year old hooker too, well neither of us got what we wanted.... (I think she was undercover, gotta love Nawlins after hours bars)
Who talked money first? You or the 22y.o. or did it even get that far,,, personally, I've found that giving them that "cat hiss" on the sly low down to get there attention then dropping the "hey baby, you wanna date" line on them, and measure their reaction/ response in my formulating a decision to further proceed in negotiating a bizness transaction,,, the mileage of yer' angled approach may vary,thougho_O

Yeah but then his dear old daddy said the coaching staff is radically changed. So there's your aggressive, we're not going to take this anymore, organizational shake up.

It's inspiring when you really look at it.

We’re doomed. Why bother. Game of Thrones, here we come!
