It's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. The Pats have done a nice job of late to catch up but they have not surpassed the legendary Dallas Cowboy's all-time greatness. Those of you that are prisoners of the moment or just aren't Cowboys fans will of course disagree and that's okay. That's why we are all allowed to have our own opinions. What say you?

Well at least Tom Landry didn't cheat...

And the Patriots have won it every season outside of 2002 and 2008, been to 9 Super Bowls, and won 6 of them.

How the hell are they better than the Patriots? This thread is embarrassing and should be deleted to not allow this already insane fanbase to look even more insane. It's that bad.
You think I'm saying the Cowboys would beat the Pats right now? That's not what I'm saying. I speaking of all-time greatness. So get off your soapbox about the thread I've started here at Cowboyzone.

Nobody cares about all-time greatness - leave that to football historians. We're not that. We are fans, we are living in the now - you know, like Patriots fans are and seeing their team get Super Bowls.

Only people that rely on success 20+ years ago are losers or those who accept mediocrity and failings. This is like that drunk dude at the bar still wearing his dirty varsity jacket talking about the good ol' days. That's you, JoeKing. Don't be that guy anymore.

Tom didn't cheat, but he took advantage when he could. Frank Gifford tells a story in his book about Tom when he was the DC of the Giants. In 1956 the Cleveland Browns were the first to use a radio and a receiver in the helmet to communicate with the QB. Tom was aware of what they were going to do and he looked up the FCC frequency that the Browns had applied for. The Giants were able to listen in on a radio on their bench and know every play that Cleveland was running. The Giants won 21 to 9.

Good story.

He really just counter the Browns pseudo-cheating...

I care about this franchise from day one. I care about Tom Landry inventing the flex defense you can never take that away. What are the Patriots done that is so innovative. So they have one more ring than us so . Do you know how hard it is to compete for 20 plus years being able to win any game that you're in. People go to the Superbowl and don't even make the playoffs the following next few seasons. Even NFL Networks are now realizing how hard it was to be average for so long in this salary cap era of football we playing. I would rather be the youngest starting team in the league like last season competing for every single game.

Jimmie Johnson cheated and he admits it. It still takes nothing away from the game. Or does it

The Patriots have had 2 dynasties in back to back decades. They have a coach that is not only the best in football, but maybe in all of sports. Despite creepy Kraft, he will go down as one of the best owners that took a bottom team and made them the best franchise in the league EVERY TEAM looks to be.

In terms of gameplanning - Belichick is so good this league has yet to catch up. Their spread offense helped change the slot position. They also have the trade and FA market figured out - they are above everyone else in terms of knowing when to rid of players and when to pick them up.

Jimmy Johnson obviously had a historic move with Hershel Walker - but his time here was so short lived it doesn't compare to what Bill and Brady has done. Even as historic as Landry was and his gameplanning, again, what the Patriots are doing is almost unheard of in sports and it certainly hasn't been a thing in football.

Again, relying on success from 20+ years ago is loser mentality. Nostalgia is a heck of a thing.

They also had Steve Grogan Tony Eason era just like we did. So we were great in the early years and they're great in the later years. It's kind of a wash. I'll take the Cowboys Innovations. Over the Patriots any day

The Patriots have a knack of finding football players. Other teams don't want to do the dirty work it takes to win in this league. Jerry Jones believes in loyalty. I would never had paid Dez Bryant I wouldn't pay de Lawrence. They had Tom Brady and Belichick that's it. They also won six games a year without even going on the field. Not really but that's what happens when you play the Jets Miami and buffalo

Patriots record is actually just as good when they are playing top teams...

The one year Brady went down and Cassell had to start the still went like 11-5? I think it's the only or one of the only times they missed the playoffs.
They missed in 2002 going 9-7 and 2008 going 11-5 when Brady blew his knee out.

Joe, I love ya, but 6 super bowl wins and 9 appearances is more than just catching up to 5 super bowl wins and 8 appearances.
Actually, the Pats are 6 wins and 11 appearances.

They also lost SBs to the 1985 Bears and 1996 Packers.

We haven't been to an NFCC in almost a quarter century. We're well down the totem pole.
