Contract year Safeties:
Heath
Frazier
Thompson
Huff

2 year contracts Safeties:
Woods
DeCoud

Too many guys will be going out next offseason for DAL not to draft at least one Safety.

Everyone except Heath (2.5M) makes 700K (roughly) or less. That's five guys and Heath is making peanuts for a starting S.

No, they don't value the position, so it's a wonder they even take the time to mention it's a need.

If ever there was a year to upgrade S in FA, this was the year. But now options are limited. We haven’t drafted a S high since Jones and he wasn’t a S, he was a better CB.

I have a feeling that we’re probably Bottom 5 in Takeaways on Defense in the last 10+ years also...

So pretty obvious whatever their doing isn’t working when it comes to the Safety Position.

They tried to trade for the best safety in the NFL last year so that angle doesnt fly.

Based on what I have seen, I believe they think that they can get a quality safety in the 2nd round. If they sign no one, then that will be the play.

Which to me is dumb because that means they will reach if they have to. Like they did with Soft Taco.

It's a pretty good draft for safety this year that lines up with mid 2nd to mid 3rd round grades. I bet their board has about t3 of them stacked at or near our draft spot at 58.
Maybe they go in that direction.

I do suspect that they like Heath better than some other people do though....right or wrong.
That would be wrong.

Value $ over S.

Short answer: "Not so much".

I knew you would appreciate the brevity. You are welcome.

I don't think he's smart enough to value S. In a DT loaded draft back in 2012, we traded up for a CB.

A player like Heath allows Jerry to play darts w/ the draft.

imo Heathe replacement is coming in the draft early now and I think he could be a day 1 starter.

It’s a hard transition to start day one at FS. Hopefully they are ready

How much of this is based on input from Marinelli?

I think very little.

This goes back Pre Rod era.

The last formidable duo we had was Hamlin and Williams.

Think our the guys over the years. Keith Davis, Pat Watkins, Alan Ball, Michael Hamlin etc. it’s just not something Jerry puts any emphasis on paying

There is a FA season and draft every year.

I just wish we used FA a little more. It’s hard to nail 99% of your picks and expect them to start right away

And then our defense got its **** pushed in by the Rams and got us bounced from the playoffs.
Kris Richard got out coached. Hopefully he will learn from it. Instead of yelling at LVE to play better....how about change your scheme like every other team was doing in the playoffs. What Kris does is too predictable. It wasnt the players.
