5th year option Redball. He gets paid a little over 6 million this year. He will be playing for a huge contract that we won’t give him.

Did not know that.

Thanx.

It's all a freaking blur.

These contracts in FA have to be a concern going forward.

Once our guys get resigned..

we are going to be dead with the cap for the next 5 years.

These guys better win.

As it stands now, we have 29 players under contract in 2020. With 124 m in cap space(before the increase, which on average has been +10 mil every year)

Let’s say 135 million. To fill 23 roster spots. Assuming they don’t trade any picks, let’s imagine they have 7 next year. They shouldn’t be picking at the top barring catastrophe, so we’ll be safe and set aside 10 mil for rookies on the cap.

125 mil to sign 16 players.

Jaylon will need a new deal.
Byron
Zeke
Dak
Law
Coop

Dak, Law and coop appear to be headed towards re-signing this offseason. Possibly zeke as well.

Well overestimate to be safe.

30/yr Dak
22/yr Law
18/yr Coop
15/yr Zeke
15/yr Byron
15/yr Jaylon

That’s 115 mil/per.
The money is definitely there, it’s a matter of if they’ll use it.

Don't hold your breath........I'm thinking unless he becomes a top 5 interception leader, they are going let him play out this season and walk w/o legit effort to resign.
Really?

You think.?

A former #1 who is a top CB is going to get the cold shoulder?

It would seem they would try to extend him at some point.

I'm still watching, but it appeared to me that he was exposed late last season as not having the physical skillset to mirror sharp route runners. At present, I'm still waiting, and we'll find out soon.

I really think he gets caught in the numbers game as the more replaceable free agent of the big 5. Can't afford to pay them all and I'm not sure they'd spend $16M a year for a DB not getting interceptions. To be honest, Byron knows this. Every offseason, he talks about the same goal.....getting more interceptions. So it's a combination of things with him IMO. Love to keep him, good kid, and damn good player on and off the field.

Thanx for the post.

I'm jealous.

I failed stat class in college and numbers and variables just are not my thing.

Me? I just like to complain.

Good work.

Out star for picks last year was LVE.

Speaking of LVE ........he's single-handly changed the identity of our D. He will be the face of this D in the near future.
Are you kidding me. I couldn’t have imagined that a rookie LB would be able to step right in and make the impact he did. He stole the show from Jaylon who they are saying isn’t even 100% quite yet. If we can get a D-Line to keep them clean then our front end will be amazing. I think they are the reason our Defense looked so good all year. The rams game LVE was sick and it showed with Lee not being back in playing shape. Jaylon couldn’t do it all and the Woods injury early in the game made a huge difference.

I'd love to keep him for 7 mil/season.

I don't see anything to support that claim, and rightfully so. We try to retain our great players. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt like Dlaw. We'll try to keep Byron.

One more year
Let him walk
Take the comp pick (which would be one more pick than he had this past season)

I mean, at least have a bad knee, or maybe a rap vid or something.

Yep.

He's too squeaky clean off the field and has never missed a game. Therefore he doesnt get talked about as much. Thereafter his performances get downplayed for some reason.
