IMO, which is obviously wrong and not right, we will end up

1) Amari Cooper (#1)
2) Michael Gallup (#2)
3) Randall Cobb (Slot)
4) Tavon Austin (Gadget, moves around WR)
5) Noah Brown (Blocker, subpackage guy)
6) Cedrick Wilson (Rookie contract, speed, developmental guy)

It will be hard/damn near impossible for Hurns to beat out Austin, Brown, Wilson whom are all on cheap deals and play STs

I actually look at it a bit differently. I almost wonder if Noah Brown would be better served as a TE. As you mentioned, he's a very good blocker. He's a tad undersized for a TE, I suppose, but his blocking and catching abilities make me think TE might be a good move for him. So, I'd actually list Noah Brown as a TE, then draft the Hawaiian chap I mention a lot. I think Wilson makes the team as well.

Yes, and I think that the last WR spot in TC will come down to Noah Brown, Hurns, and probably a rookie. I must say, I do agree with whoever it was that is surprised that Hurns is on the roster. Pity what happened to him, and he seems like a nice chap. However, I do think he'll probably be on the outside looking in at the end of it all.

Right now, barring injury, Cooper, Gallup and Cobb are the locks. Austin is close to a lock as well. That leaves Hurns, Wilson, Brown and Lenoir competing for 1-2 spots. Gotta figure that if Wilson shows anything he will stick - he's the youngest and least expensive and theoretically has the most upside. I would say a final spot would be a toss up between the other 3. Hurns would have the edge if cost weren't a factor - Brown and Lenoir have been trying to get some attention for years and haven't been able to. Of course, a currently unknown candidate could end up in the mix as well.

Do we know Wilson plays special teams? Not that it matters for him to make the team. If he shows any upside in training camp he will get his shot to stick.

I think that Wilson's going to stick with us if he has another good offseason and all. I don't think Lenoir will be back. I fully expect a rookie like John Ursua (if we draft him, of course) to unseat him with ease. I think the final spot will be a battle between Hurns, Brown, and the rookie. Brown, I think, might get a classification of TE to keep him on the roster given his blocking ability. Between Hurns and the rookie, the rookie we draft or sign will likely get the spot.

Here you are: https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/cedric-wilson-3.html

Not exactly electrifying, but quite solid. Probably gets a spot as a KR.

I would approach him about a straight cut...

If you’re a 6th round pick, are buried on the depth chart and coming off a injury, you better play special teams lol!!!

Not everyone is Antonio brown!

But in all seriousness, he returned punts and kicks at Boise. I imagine with his skill set and experience he is an upgrade at kick return over Darius Jackson.

Actually, I wouldn't cut him yet. What I'd do is get the paycut, and then hold on to him in training camp. That way, his contract is at a tradeable level. If a team should have a WR go down or something, then I'd try to flip him for a draft pick.

I don't think we'll have to worry about Wilson returning the ball.

Good luck with that. Not a bad plan though...

Allen Hurns didn't fulfill his contractual expectations when he was healthy. What makes the Cowboys think he'll do any better after incurring such a serious injury? Evidently, they now realize they over-valued his worth and will ask him to make restitution. Expecting players to make up for the team's poor managerial skills of the FO is asking a lot.

It's anyone guess if he'll comply with a pay reduction but if he doesn't, I'm guessing there's little to nothing to ensure that he wouldn't be cut. Is his value in the midst of rehab or maybe a recent return to health somehow sufficient to warrant trade possibilities? Finding out might well require more time to determine if it's really worth it. Many questions abound.

Whether they call him a WR or TE doesn't really matter, it's just a matter of how many roster spots they have to go around and who is deemed most expendable. No need to call him a TE unless they actually plan to use him as one, which to date seems to be more fan speculation than anything the Cowboys have indicated.

Oh, I don't think we'd get a lot for him. I'd just be happy with a conditional 7th round pick for him, which, if he has a good TC and preseason, is possible.
How you been doing Furry? Done with school yet? Always good to clap with you, my fake Brit.

Well, classifying him as a TE is more of my thinking than anyone else that I've seen to be honest.I just think he'd be better at TE. However, I think it might well come down to him and a rookie for one of the last spots.

Nearly finished. I'll be graduating with my Master's in May. And as for that, like I said, I'm American but I type British. Funny story though, I was in the bursar's office on my first weekday having transferred to the university from a community college, and someone heard me talking and I was wearing an England shirt. The person turned out to be with the international office and offered me to come with her because she thought I was British.

I should have looked before I posted, but looking at his college stats now I see he was a successful return man in college. I hope it translates to the NFL. I would be surprised if Darius Jackson even makes the roster, although as things sit today there isn't any competition for the backup RB.
