Barely two weeks ago, the Cowboys had not entered into extension discussions with their quarterback or No. 1 wide receiver. They have now.

Following DeMarcus Lawrence‘s re-up, the Cowboys are in talks with Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper. Both players are part of Dallas’ extensive extension equation, which may also involve Ezekiel Elliott, Byron Jones and Jaylon Smith.

When the Lawrence deal was announced a report came out that the team is going to structure the Dak extension is going to keep the 2mil dak base and simply add the prorated bonus on top so Daks cap might be around 8mil this yr. Coopers caphit could very will be half of what it is now. I think after that we could see either Hurns take the paycut or be released and free up another 5mil, Dallas can then go to Martin and give him some money upfront in a restructure for a Elliot deal and its rookies. Then walk into 2020 with its franchise players inked and over 100mil in cap room.

The FO has really done a great job in putting itself in this spot to have its core signed and structured them deals where they wont kill the future cap. Gotta hand it to the Jones'

Eitherway i don't think Jones will be offered a contract until next season. Dak and Cooper this year and then maybe Zeke and Jaylon next year but those will be before Jones. In my opinion

I agree with you. Out of all of these names for extensions, I think an extension for Jones has the least chance of happening. I thought so before, but now given his hip surgery and missed time, I don't think there's much chance at all of a bug contract for him.

Cornerback is much higher of a draft priority in my opinion than many might think.

I'm predicting Amari gets 17 per year.

This is my thinking also ......it would make him 2nd highest paid WR only behind OBJ $18M. No WR other than OBJ has broken $17M threshold. AB is currently at something like $16.7M.

Those are EXACTLY the two guys I would extend first. Not worrying about Zeke now is also the right move in my opinion.

Exploring Ezekiel Elliott's Extensive Extension Equation!
:omg:

(Previous Salary x 3) divided by (# of Season Tickets Sold - bottles of Johnnie Walker drank by Dad) + (Merchandise Sales * Number of Times Goodell stuck it to us).

You take the results of that and divide it by the proprietary Jerry Jones Loyalty factor.

If that result is greater than Jason Witten's jersey number you sign the player long term. If it is below it, they are out of luck.
