Don't blame Stephen, Jerry or Dak, it's the market

Simply a salary explosion for NFL STARTING QBS.....only way to stop it is a rookie contract or recycling the position every 5-6 years with a rookie.

Or a high upside veteran gamble. Foles, Bortles, Tannehill.

People forget Bortles has had now 2 good-to-great years in a not very passer-friendly Jacksonville offense. He led his team to an AFC championship game, and he's one of about a dozen guys in nfl history to throw 40 tds in a season. He's no bust, he just needs the right environment.

It's called draft another QB and pay minimum for 4 years

We can repeat the production of come very close to it with another QB, unless we believe Dak has become that much better over the last 3 months...

The market may set the price, but when that price is too high for a position for average play I see no rule stating we have to roll with it.

You should grab him for your back up.

I do not blame them for any one player's salary as every team has some overpaid positions. It is their job to balance it all out and not get too much going to too few.

The situations with Elliott, Cooper, Jones and Smith will be a little tougher because none of these teams wants to pay the QB's what they're paying them. That's just the cost of keeping the most critical player.

Every agent knows there is a shortage of really good NFL caliber QB's. There are not 32 high caliber players at any position so good ones get paid great money. If Mahomes has close to the season this year that he had last season, how much do you think he's getting? He will break the 40 barrier.

If you believe Spotrac......Mahomes is worth $35.2M right now but he's not an UFA until 2026. No way in hell they wait that long, UNLESS his agent give them no choice.

What? Mahomes is a UFA after 2020. He'll get the 5th year option that will push that to 2021. No idea where you're getting the 2026 number.

Yep. QB's are scarce and thus expensive. We had a golden window of three years paying Dak a total of like 6 million and blew it. Now, we either need to pay the market rate or gamble on finding another Dak. I'll take our odds going with the former.
