Zeke or Dak, what if we can only keep one

Looks like the results are overwhelming. Lose Dakota. Keep Zeke

Not much of a surprise here. Common sense usually prevails

For me, I feel it's easier to find another mediocre quarterback than there is for a potential hall of fame runningback.

I would want to agree, but being a fan of the Dolphins as well shows me that's not easily done.
You can blame the lack of a clear vision with their FO and head coaches, but they have drafted QB's in day 1, 2 and 3 and their latest failure, Tannehill, never really progressed at all on consistency. Would have a very good outing then be a clueless oaf in the pocket or force a pass like it was 4th down and 10 with 00's on the clock.

We'll see again tonight the desperation from the league when someone like Daniel Jones goes in the top 10, or Lock goes in the first that teams are desperate to find a starter.

Now, Dak had me concerned for almost a years worth of play, half of 17 to half of 2018. I'm not sold he's the franchise QB, but I feel there can be a bigger potential drop off from trying to find another QB compared to the potential dropoff we would face at RB. Unfortunately with the explosion in QB prices, it's quite the risk signing a guy to over 20% of your cap hit who can't be cut for 3-4 years due to dead cap hit.

Just seems to me there are more hits for RB's for producing at a good clip on their ELC than there are QBs.

Dak put the team on his shoulders?????? WTH? ARE YOU HIGH? Let's forget the fact that Zeke has led the league in rushing the last 3 years in a row. Let's also forget how much our defense has carried. I'm actually disgusted with you.

You must have been high on something or were wearing blinders if you haven't seen the times he's put the team on his back with some of the plays he's made. In his 3 seasons Dak has beaten four future HOF fame QBs, Rodgers, Brees, Roethlisberger and Eli. As for our defense it was never any good until this past season until it folded once again in the playoffs. It looked like crap against the Giants in the season final and Dak made the game winning play. Dak played well enough for the Cowboys to win the game against the Rams in the playoffs but the defense laid an egg. The defense laid an egg in the playoffs in 2016 against Green Bay after Dak brought us back to tie that game. I'm disgusted with you! As for Zeke he's led the league in rushing 2 of his first 3 seasons. He's a great player but the longevity won't be there with him. At his current pace he'll hit the wall by the time he's 29-30. You can't win without solid QB play. Look at all the QBs that have been kicked to the curb this offseason and everyone of them have been mentioned here as a replacement for Dak.:laugh:

You're kidding yourself if you think all Dak does is manage games and that there's a lot of QBs that bring as much to the table as he does. His leadership and intangibles are off the charts. He's tough as nails and never gives up. He's played his best football in the 4th quarter and OT when games are on the line. He's clutch! He's a lot more than a game manager. Show me a so called "game manager" who can break the tackles Dak did to pick up that key first down against the Saints or make the throw he did to Beasley on 4th down in the season finale to win that game? Show me a "game manager" who lowers their head and runs over defenders to get into the end zone in critical situations. Dak has carried the team at times. He put up almost 2200 yards passing the final 8 games of the season, helping us dig out of a 3-5 first half of the season hole. He had passing performances of 455 yards and 387 yards. Show me a game manager who's had passing performances like that? He's put up 18 rushing TDs the past 3 seasons. Everything some of you are saying about Dak you were saying the same things about Russell Wilson several years ago.

Zeke is a great player but he's had just under 900 carries the past 3 seasons. At his current pace he'll be done by 30, while Dak will be in the prime of his career with several more years to go. The Cowboys are a QB dependent team who could only manage one win with 3 different backup QBs in 2015. I don't care how many yards Zeke puts up we're not going anywhere without a solid passing game and a QB who can make plays with their arm and legs. Dak has leadership skills and intangibles that put him ahead of more than half the starting QBs in the league. His teammates follow him and believe in him. You're being foolish if you think a lot of QBs can replace him and the Cowboys would have the same success or better. He has some flaws like all QBs but he's improving and the arrows are pointing up with him.

Zeke has to get the volume of work he does because we don’t get many big plays from the guy throwing it.

You don’t want Dak passing a lot because he isn’t good at it.

You losers with your Dak fetish. Disgusting.

You're a Dak hater who can't be taken seriously. At least I'm honest about him. I point out all his positives and negatives. He has both but his positives out weigh his negatives which is why he has a high winning percentage and we've made the playoffs in two of his first three seasons. He's up for a huge contract extension because he's played solid and we win games with him.

You sound like a typical joe blow fan who knows absolutely nothing about football. I take nothing you say seriously because not many on this board have posted more idiocy than you have. The guy throwing it has a 96.0 career passer rating and a 66.1 career completion percentage. The guy throwing it has almost 3 times as many passing TDs as INTs. The guy throwing it has a 32-16 W/L record and won a playoff game against a QB who's currently the highest paid player in NFL history. Go grind your screws over that.

No you dont. Are you stupid? Keeping a mediocre quarterback over a hall of fame running back is the dumbest thing you can do. Damn people are dumb lmao.

I wouldn't be calling anyone stupid with some of the comments you've made. Go compare how many QBs have gone #1 overall in the draft compared to RBs. Don't bother it's not even close! You claimed our defense has carried Dak when our defense wasn't any good until last season and it went back to not being any good in the playoffs. Our D almost got us beat in postseason against Seattle in the final seconds and it did get us beat against the Rams despite Dak being statistically better than Goff. Dak has a 32-16 regular season record with a 66.1 career completion percentage and a 96.0 career passer rating. He's accounted for more than 3 times as many TDs passing and rushing as turnovers and he won a playoff game against a terrific QB in Russell Wilson. How is that mediocre? LMAO at you calling people dumb.

is it that hard to find an average QB?
I would say his record speaks above average. his comeback % speaks above average. His record setting rookie year says above average. Now upon viewing him he doesn't always pass the smell test but I'll take him over 75% of the league. And quite frankly its pointless to get too uptight about the possibility of anyone else cause it isn't happening

Oh, so just find a superstar QB? Simple enough.

I just can't get over how easy everyone seems to think it is to find even an above average QB outside of the top 5 picks.

Put the effort in to get a superstar is where you start. Hoping for a nobody puts you in the position you’ve been in.

As the years pass Dak will continue to get better, Zeke won’t. We’re getting the best we’re ever going to get out of Zeke right now. He already has a lot of miles on him.

They would keep Dak even though Zeke is the better player.

No question Zeke is the better player but the position he plays isn’t as valuable as QB. You can’t win without good QB play. No 2000 yard rusher has ever led their team to a championship. It all comes down to the QB.

Zeke’s 23... He’s younger than some guys coming out of the draft.

Not even a big Dak guy, but I would rather pay him top QB $$ than pay Zeke top RB $$ - really a reflection of the relative value of their positions versus a comment on the quality of either player
