I've had a bad case of writers block going on. I've started countless contributions for this site and have finished nothing in almost a year now. Not sure what me deal is but for the most part I think I just got bored with arguing the same points over and over with the same people who refuse to accept that I am always right.
**-ey!
Like that? It was like I said fooey!

Not sure if you already knew this or not, but it has been reported that Marinelli has all of his players sign that same contract. So it's not just something unique to Hill situation.
Interesting, but It kind of flies in the face of selecting players that naturally love the game.

I'd like to know why the Trysten Hill pick was so pre-meditated and why they didn't have an open mind about drafting others with that pick..?

The time to have an open mind is BEFORE draft day. By the time draft day comes, it is past the time for an open mind. It is the time for a decision. Just because you START the process with an open mind doesn't mean you should END the process with the same open mind. The point of an open mind is to gather information so you can make a well informed decision, by which time your mind SHOULD BE closed on the subject - because you've made a decision.

We had a boring draft, not a flashy draft. Boring drafts usually show better results. It's the clueless fans that usually fail to see the angle.

Been going over the picks....and if you look @ it...every pick does makes sense. They drafted for depth. They filled holes. They problem I have is...the talent level picked. Seemed like we were playing catch up all day on day .

Wanted Isaiah Johnson, CB (Houston)....settled for Michael Jackson, CB (Miami)

Could of had any of the safeties...settled for ...Donovan Wilson, S (Texas A&M)

Reached for Trysten Hill, DT (Central Florida)...

Eh. He doesn't have to be wrong. If Thornhill turns out to be Ed Reed but Hill turns out to be Geno Atkins we'll still be in good shape.

Kind of like the argument in 2011 of who had the best pick, Cowboys with Tyron Smith, or Houston with J.J. Watt. Both guys considered head & shoulders above everyone else as the best in the NFL at their positions 5 years later.

Lol, so now McClay is responsible for game time coaching, scheme and individual on-the-field performance.

What exactly are the coaches and coordinators for again?
Until he gets new coaches it doesn't matter what positions we draft. You know what would have happened in the Rams game had we had this kid Hill. The same dang thing.
I think we'll see different schemes on both sides of the ball. I've wanted marinelli gone for years. He'll be more the d-line coach and less the dc. Richard will take care of that. Hope I'm not wrong.

looks like the cowboys front office is starting to lose patience in taco. I really hope that he comes to camp ready to show that he was worth the first round pick. this is year three and now is time to show something or just move on.

Its obvious the guy is a bust. They have moved on from him already. It couldn't be more obvious.

I'm sure they did. Not as if, if Hill is gone they'd have not turned in a draft card.

Marinelli developed a father / son relationship with him. I guess Juan Thornhill didn't want to call Rod "daddy".

Thornhill honestly is who I was chanting as I waited for them to announce it. Can't lie about that.

But like I said above, most people have Thornhill pegged as a Free Safety...and there are reports that suggest he's a bit tentative when it comes to hitting, which is not what you want from your SS in the box. So, if anything, they would have probably moved Woods to SS, and had Thornhill step in at FS. The Free Safety is regarded as the QB of the defense, which is not all the ideal of landing spot for a bottom of the 2nd rookie.

Overall, I felt they may have taken Hill a bit early but it's only too early if you think he would have still been there at 90...which none of us can honestly say one way or another. There were quite a few players taken sooner than expected so if you have a guy that you identify as having the qualities you want, it's probably best to take him while you still can. As far as physical traits are concerned, Hill is a rarity. Guys over 300 don't typically move like he does, so again, I understand why they went the direction they did.

Yep Woods is a natural SS.

Employee's make recommendations....bosses make decisions. At the end of the day, if this doesn't work out...it's on SJ/McClay.

McClay is well-liked. So he makes all the picks the mob likes. Marinelli is not. So when there’s a reach, it’s on him.

The same goes for defensive play calling where, if the team played well on defense, you better believe that was Richard. Lose to the Rams? Marinelli has to go!
