As Cowboys fans, do we deserve more?

I've had this feeling for a very long time, going back to the old DC.com forum and don't get me wrong, fine for fans to vent and complain but some of ours borders on entitlement.

If someone were to come here without knowing the past 5 year history, would they guess that this team has won the East 3 of those 5 years? Or made a historic, for this franchise, turnaround from 3-5 to winning the division going 7-1? Or had two rookie players in the conversation for not only Rookie of the Year but Most Valuable Offensive Player? How often does that happen, any of that?

Hey, I am no Pollyanna but some here make me feel like I am. Nothing's good enough, we are more deserving because?

We blame the FO for the lack of talent and the coaching for the lack of results. Does that make sense?

As fans, we want more, want to advance beyond the division round, our usual stopping point. But what about the 24 teams' fanbases that didn't get to see their team advance that far? And sure as hell not from 3-5 at the midpoint.

The Colts fans are disappointed and believe it or not, they were once a chest beating ruler just as the Cowboys were. They were dead and buried to start the season and came close to going to the AFCCG but did any of their fans even expect to be playing in a game to go to that game earlier in the season? Do you think those fans are as down as ours because we only made it to the division round?

Hey, do what you want but if you read this forum objectively and try to use an outsider's viewpoint, you will see what I see. Far too much entitlement posting and based on what? Those fans being SB or Bust fans? I don't watch them to see them play, I watch them to see them win fans.

All I am asking is to just stop and think about where a really negative post is coming from? What is that based on, expectations not met which only you are responsible for, or reality. And learn to recognize an overachieving team based on their talent level.

Anyway, I've had my say, just as I did on the old forum, just needed to get that off my chest because there are better and more knowledgeable football fans on this forum for it to take on that vibe.

We give them the richest franchise in sports, what do we get in return?

  1. Dallas Cowboys: $4.8 billion.
  2. Manchester United: $4.123 billion.
  3. Real Madrid: $4.088 billion.
  4. Barcelona: $4.064 billion.
  5. New York Yankees: $4 billion.

Every other team on that list is winning championships or has won one in the last decade. Yes I believe we deserve more. This is an easy question.

This team is Jerry's and Stephen's business along with the rest of the Jones clan. He invested in the Cowboys to make money, period.
As long as this club is profitable and it is, Jerry will keep building up the stadium and the Star in Frisco expanding his vast empire
even larger and wider. Yes, he wants to win but, remember this is a business first and always.

Nice post. A bit of perspective is helpful. Some of the older guys were spoiled by Landry's 17-year playoff run, 8 conference championship game appearances, 5 SB appearances and 2 titles, and by that 90s dynasty. Instead of valuing them for the magical times that they were, the sorts of times that haven't come around much to fanbases outside of NE, SF and Pitt, they think those times somehow set the standard. Such nonsense. There are 32 teams all doing their best to win in this league. Playoff participant turnover year to year is 50%. It's a hyper-competitive league in which it's tough to have success. The recent string of 3 NFC East titles in 5 years is noteworthy and encouraging. Pity the fan who can't see it as such.

I want Rowdy to be gone, and yes I deserve that be the case and for it to happen.

After this season we will see what direction it will go. Win and still have garrett, or lose and see what happens and where it goes.
What if we lose, Garrett and staff are fired. Are they going to complain right away about the new staff. Will they give them a bye for 2 or 3 years. If we lose and Garrett is still here, this place will have a huge meltdown, and I will be there with them. Lol.

Will half say, yes a new staff and support it, and the other half whine because it wasn’t who they wanted or think it should be.
I mean, what if it is not Peyton but some DC from some losing team. Will anyone be against bringing in Peyton and not like it.

Will some embrace the new coach no matter who it is rather than hate him or the opposite l
This may be more interesting then seeing how the roster is effected. LOl.

It is not what each thinks they deserve if at all, it is how will fans react. To me, it will end up being about the same. Water seeks its own level, and I think most fans do the same. At some point they will be back to the way they normally are no matter what happens.

I am one of those older guys and you left out the most critical part and building of my entitlement back then, 20 winning seasons in a row. That's so crazy we thought that was normal.

I wonder sometimes if the Joneses aren't as sick of the pissed off fans and as they are of the Joneses. Can you imagine how they felt, and the team, that this team turned it from 3-5 to win the division, won a playoff game and all they could do was complain about 275 yards rushing and want everyone fired.

When they won the division, I told myself, 'I don't care what they do from here because in watching this team play since 1960, I never saw anything like this'. And doing that with a crappy HC, DC and QB, mercy me. I do not feel enough posters really appreciate that and forget how we were feeling at the break 3-5 and all of the rants about giving up a 1st for Cooper.

Mock if you want, doubters of stephen. I'll have the last laugh. And I promise not to rub it in. That's just not my nature. :)

I am sure you remember the atmosphere in this place when we were 3-5, basically threw away a few wins. As most other remember too.
Then we go 7-1, beating the Eagles twice and the Saints, and even many thought we would lose the the Commanders as they feared Colt. In which I did not fear him. But anyway.

To do that, and to beat Seattle in the playoffs with some gutty performances. And even though we got beat by the Rams.
It said a lot about this team and the direction it can go.

But yes to sit back and all the usuals can harp on besides their normal drive by mean nothing posts. Is how the Colts, and especially the Rams beat us. It happens. So the team can address and fix that. Though many don’t think they did. I guess they think we need to draft 4 stub top 5 DL using a 2nd and 3rd round pick. Last I seen all the other teams were knocked out of the playoffs too in some fashion. Looked at what happened to KC. Dominate all year to lose at home, though it was NE.

But to go from 3-5 and finish up 7-1 and win the division when we were last and 3rd place for a while, then 2nd place. Then 1st place and never relinquished it. Showed me a lot about the make up of this team. They never quit on Garrett, and I am not a Garrett fan, but they do not quit on him. And that tells me they can be even better this year. Or they should be. As we know each year can crumble too. But I can’t see it unless too many injuries.
