Dak Prescott: a prime candidate to see considerable improvement

Dak is likely a fairly unique situation. I can't think of many QBs drafted where he was or even lower that had the initial success and blossomed. Brady is the closest and I am in no way claiming he's Brady. Wilson is another, but he was drafted higher than Prescott in the 3rd round.

At this point, it's really hard to discern where Dak will go in his career because he's a fairly unique case. Odds are he doesn't get better but that's a theory that applies to Wentz and others because when you look at all the QBs who have come through this league, say in the last decade, the majority have sucked or were mediocre and largely never improved.

Those that did improve over time isn't a huge number.

There may not be many, but the they were high first rounders. Alex Smith, Eli Manning, Joe Flacco (for a period of time), Matt Ryan, Cam Newton. These are guys who did pretty much nothing on their rookie contracts, got big extensions, and then clearly blossomed into top-of-the-leaderboards type QBs. It's not all first rounders, not even most. But players get picked in the first round for a reason: longterm potential. The team saw the potential for this to happen.

1 set of rules: midround pick, extension with no championship game appearance.

A worthless "set of rules" constructed in a clear and obvious attempt to give you carte blanche to disparage this team's quarterback. Do you actually think you're fooling anyone with this stuff? Really?

So back to Dak robbing Peter to pay Paul....

And being better to this point than Carson Wentz.

If we had to do it all over again, it has to play out exactly the same for it to end on the high note.

But the real question, are Cowboy fans happy with same ole, same ole NFCCGs with NFC East teams and Seattles and Green Bays while Dak goes on vacation? If you could do 2016, 2017, 2018 over again, do you turn down Mahomes or Watson or Mayfield or Darnold or Murray and still take Dak if you knew what you know now? Of course not, because nothing's changed. Dak puts up pretty efficiency stats when the run game is working, but you're in exactly the same position you've been in for a decade, when Romo came up short of the NFCCG in 2014, 2009, 2007....

Don't forget, I'm a fan of the Eagles. I like Wentz because he plays for the Eagles. Drafting Wentz got us a ring, butterfly effect.

If you're a Cowboys fan and not just a Dak Prescott fan, there's no way you can say "Everything's going according to plan!"

Post Nick Foles' picture along with the others, because he got you that ring, Wentz had nothing to do with it.

You know it, and I know it.

Are Eagles fans worried that you're screwed now that the guy who won you your one and only Super Bowl ever has left town? You should be.

Are you worried that you now have to pay your oft-injured quarterback, that led you to a losing record last year, before Foles once again saved the day? You should be.

Are you worried that what some teammates said about Wentz immaturity, self-centered ways, and lack of leadership will continue? You should be.

Worry more about your own very real problems before trying to take shots at the team and quarterback that swept you last year.

You swept us, but still couldn't get any farther in the playoff than we did. Now you're catching on. Remember that time you swept the giants in 2007? Deja Vu.

People keep fighting on that Romo vs Dak train, but no one realizes the circumstances are pretty much identical. Romo had pretty stats and 'played well' in divisional round games he kept losing as well.

That's right, we swept you.

We don't need to worry about Dallas beating us in our next NFCCG, so I'll take losing to you every time if it means things continue to play out as they have.

Look at you. We're now YOUR Super Bowl. I finally understand that insult.

Philadelphia fans are an absolute disgrace. Pure trash. Yall have about as much class as a hooker on bourbon street during mardi gras working in a pot-a-gold! The only difference is yall enjoy the pounding yall get!

Did you know the Philadelphia fan that microwaved the puppy after yall lost to the Saints this past year?.. You would think after being used to failure for so long yall would have better coping mechanisms..
Hey, least you have 1 more super bowl then the Falcons.. I mean thats cool right?

You don't "need to worry" about it either since the guy that actually got you there is gone.

You'll always be jealous little brother, trying to catch up with the better version. Enjoy your lone Super Bowl that Foles won you. You'll never see another one, especially not with "damaged goods".

We'll work on number 6.

This is only really accurate if QB’s played in a vacuum, and were the only one responsible for if a team wins or loses.

Romo was not the reason the team never got past the divisional round in his years. Dak IMO also isn’t the primary reason either. We both know it’s a team sport.

The truth is, in the year the eagles won a super bowl, they had an incredible roster. Props to howie roseman for building it.

But it’s intellectually dishonest to say Wentz is the reason you got one and Prescott is the reason we haven’t. It’s far more complex than that and u know it.

Wentz via the butterfly effect. I think you can accept that as accurate. Just as Nnamdi Asomugha, Michael Vick, even Chip Kelly had heavy impact on how we resulted in the Super Bowl.

But yes, QB being responsible for wins and losses is highly overrated. All a QB can really do is play well and close his eyes and pray, even Tom Brady. Tom Brady was amazing against the Seahawks in the 4th quarter of the super bowl, but he still should have lost. Conversely, Peyton Manning 'destroyed' the Panthers in their super bowl.

Win four more, and then you can talk as peers. Until then, you're still playing catch-up. Badly.

As long as you give us the opportunity to catch up like you have been, works for me. 6 nfccgs and counting this millennium, we’ll probably win some more bling in the next 6.

But hey, Prescott puts up great numbers when the rams run for 280 on you, so that’s worth gloating about.
