Yeah, really not buying this until there is more smoke than just Rapoport's speculation.

Helman went on-record yesterday on Break that he thought Berry was not on the list of serious Cowboys considerations any longer, and moreover, was probably more likely to just retire. Since it sounded more like just his normal cynical brain kicking in, I didn't take that conclusion as an actual report worth any real regard. Glad to see already there's some indication I was right about that.

The experience to pass along to other players alone will be worth it......worth a cheap contract that is!

Meh, likey couldn’t beat out Heath.
I think you're joking but last season Berry could not have beaten out Heath. I'm not a Heath fan - he's our current weakest link outside maybe kicker - but Berry would need to show something more than he has in years Specifically in the health department. Berry was abused in the AFC Championship Game by a guy who retired because he's essentially done.

He’s had almost nearly 0 interest. That’s all you need to know.

Rap is just desperate for likes and views for this.
And did he tell you this himself? He came in for a visit sooooo....

I know that you're really big on this potential signing, so I hope they get something done for your sake.

But in all honestly, I agree with Helman. I don't think any team will be willing to assume the injury risk and it won't be worth it for Berry to play for what teams are willing to pay and he ultimately decides to walk away.

"Big" would be over-stating it, @stasheroo . But I do think there's a number that probably is going to work eventually for both sides.

There is *zero* medical evidence that has been reported that suggests his career is over, and to the contrary, the medical people who have written about it have said it's an injury that, it's completely plausible, will resolve itself with rest and treatment. Translating that, then, it's completely *also* plausible that the Cowboys' perspective (and others) would be, why sign him now... why not wait until much closer to the start of the season when you *know so much better* how he's progressed (or not).

Having said that, if our shiny new toy from the draft keeps doing what he did yesterday in practice, that could diminish the Cowboys interest for sure.

I honestly think if this has any chance at happening, they would have signed him after the two sides met earlier. The only way he gets signed now is emergency pick-up after losing a starter once the regular season starts IMO. Cowboys still in the mist can also be translated to we are not interested AT THIS TIME.

Can bring him in and have a small role so he’s not on the field a lot. But like others have said he’s had no interest elsewhere

He did actually. All kidding aside, kid was an all pro. If he had juice in the tank, somebody would pick him up especially since vet contracts aren’t guaranteed.

Only way he signs here is if there are injuries or some miracle elixir fixes him.

Trust me, I’ve followed Berry since high school. I want nothing more than him to return to an all pro and it happen in Dallas.

His health is the reason he’s still on the market.....as everyone knows....if he plays for us i give him 1 game before he’s on IR

if we sign him and he somehow plays all 16 games he would be a cornerstone piece of the D
