I watched the whole thing and learned a few things about the man. He seems like a genuinely nice person. I can see why the players like him and why they like to throw the ball around with him and treat him like one of the guys. I still have a problem with the way he became head coach of the Cowboys. When the team was getting blown out in Green Bay in 2010 Jason was the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator, I can't help but think he was thrilled that his team was getting blown out. I probably would have felt the same way knowing that I wouldn't be held responsible at all and as a matter of fact get promoted to the best head coaching job in the NFL. As a fan at the time though I was mad about how the season was going and my thought was fire Wade, but fire Jason along with him---not do just the opposite and promote him. I didn't care if he might have been a good coach, I just didn't want him coaching my team---it didn't seem right. His record as head coach has been good, but then again with the talent that this team has had over the years perhaps anther guy would have even a better record and perhaps a Super Bowl or two. Even though I still want Jason gone, I don't blame him at all for taking the job. I would have done the same thing.

I like Jason and think he is the right coach for us. He’s homegrown as they say and that’s got to count for something.

-------No question, he's a man of faith and principalsNo question, he's a man of faith and principals

Is that why he survives every season after plunging long knives into his assistants backs? Screw him....put me down as not fooled.

You do recall that, after Parcells stepped down, Garrett was actually hired as OC before Wade was hired as HC? And that Jerry, immediately after hiring Wade, anointed JG as head-coach-in-waiting?

No matter what happened during WP’s watch, Jerry was always gonna promote Garrett to HC, sooner or later.

That was so weird, but Wade went with it. He probably figured that was his only chance at ever becoming a HC.

No question, he's a man of faith and principals.......this is why I think there's a seat waiting for him in FO.

Heard Kitna say the other day he patterns his coaching style after Garrett's. You also hear a lot of players and coaches repeat some of Garrett phrases, he gets them to buy in. Even heard Romo use his meritocracy line in his speech.

Would a man's man cross his legs like that? Or even put that outfit together? He might be too nice to dislike, but he's definitely not coming off as a man's man in this video.

Jason Garrett: "Thank you class of 2019. I am a perfect example of the adage, if at first you don't succeed … try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try … again.
Then if you don't succeed, make sure you have naked pictures of your boss in a compromising position." ;)

Wade had been HC twice before (Denver and Buffalo).
Really? I thought he was DC in Denver, but didn't know he made HC. Buffalo doesn't cross my mind. I can't remember the last game of theirs I've seen.

The best part of it was the story about Justin Durant. Really interesting as to why he retired.

He gave some insight into the whole clapping thing he gets slack for. Garrett has standards to be the best. The thing that keeps him just below Belicheck/Reid’s level is having a plan B, C and D when plan A fails.

If he were in college or corporate America or coaching in the 90s, he’d be a legend. But the NFL now, talent is so equal there is no sure fire way to gain the edge. Basically he’s a younger version of Parcells who also declined in the modern NFL. Their philosophy is get your man to be his very best then just win a series of 1 on 1 battles.

Unfortunately it’s more than that in today’s game. The players are different and they don’t have the same edge a former era did where they held the standard no matter what because that’s what the coach said.

He's smart and eloquent, but he's no head coach. He would have never lasted this long as a Texas HS coach.
Actually he’s exactly what college coaches are now. They’re more about self actualizing and growing the person than just X’s And O’s primarily because when you only have guys focus on football that’s how you get the Irvin’s teammates at the U and that doesn’t fly today.

Trust me I’ve worked for FBS coaches who played in New Years Bowl games recently. This is how their taught to reach players today at their coaches conventions.

Players football acumens are much different now. If they can’t understand something in 5 seconds they give up. Coaching is now all about teaching. Belicheck has his success due to his skins on the wall and everyone in the locker room respects Brady. His approach is actually very outdated.
