Where there’s smoke....

Some people here owe Mike Florio an apology. I rather dislike the guy, but he’s the only one who had this scoop.

In fairness, until he actually misses a practice, we don't know if Florio is correct. Players have flown to camp spots on their own.

My gut says Elliott is going to not show up and hope a short term hold out gets him what he wants, but as of now, until practice starts, we don't really know what Elliott is doing.

No one owes him an apology until noon tomorrow which I belive is the offical start of camp.

Edit: even then, they don't owe him one until Saturday if he actually missespractice

I do not know...let him sit out. Keep him fresh for the season and run the dickens out of him and move on from him after this season...LOL

That being said, if Elliott refuses to show up, that is just another example of why I am really hesitant to hand a guy like this a huge, long term contract.

He's scheduled to make over $12MM the next two years on top of the nearly $20MM he's already pocketed in salary and signing bonus. Jerry went to the mat for him during his off the field situations and always defended him. This is a team that is primed to maybe make some noise and doesn't need contract distractions.

Sorry Zeke that you don't like that you will only make $4MM in base this year, but suck it up and show and get ready to play.

Emmitt didn't hold out.

Emmitt Smith, Dallas Cowboys
Emmitt Smith led the league in rushing in 1992, and helped the Cowboys to a Super Bowl victory that season. But he was set to make just $465,000 in 1993, so he held out for a deal that would more closely reflect his level of production. Smith missed the first two games of the regular season, both of which the Cowboys lost. The team finally came through with a deal worth $13.6 million over four years that made Smith (at the time) the highest-paid running back in league history, and Dallas became the first team to lose its first two games and then go on to win a Super Bowl in the same season.
:p

He literally received over 16 million dollars cash before ever having a real NFL practice.

He not only got a top 3 guranteed contract for his position, he received 65% of it cash money Day 1.

He doesn't really have too much leverage to hold out, they've already paid him a cash advanced for his current deal and if he wants an extension he already has next year fully guranteed for injury so there's no reason NOT to wait till this season is over

You have no clue what Zeke is asking for. Maybe he is ok with a contract that benefits both sides. I fully expect this to work itself out with both sides being happy. If I was Zeke, I would do the exact same thing knowing that my career as a RB is limited. And so would you so get over yourself.

Just a random interjection for the day, I read about Adrian Peterson today and I have to wonder if Zeke doesn't have his own financial messes brewing.
