Remember when Alex Smith couldn't lead his talented 49ers to the Super Bowl?

At work, sorry some of us aren't retired. Says a lot about yourself if you're trying to call me out on something petty.

And this isn't about one game so lets stay on track with a common issue with the offense.

The Cowboys won 7 of the last eight games and lead the league in scoring in those eight games and Dak wasn’t close to being as you say “a bus driver”. Yes it was a team effort, the defense, Cooper’s acquisition, Zeke, but Dak absolutely played lights out.

I was a major Dak critic until he showed me what he can do in those eight games. In my opinion he is either over rated or under rated by most. I think he is a good QB and I’m afraid my friend that you are one that is underrating him.

I honestly believe Dak is at a crossroads for his development this year.

The media coverage has been favorable and the hype, fairly generous.

I'm anxious to see whether or not his progress is as fine as advertised.

Here's hoping his play in the upcoming preseason games verify it's so!

At the time I said they just needed a play maker at QB to get them over the hump, the bus driver is holding them back. Well AT THE TIME Kaepernick was the guy to do so and he helped get them there.

I fear this is what we're going to find ourselves in, but without the QB change to ever give us a chance to compete. How many more years can we afford to waste, assuming we don't make it to the final game? Let's say we fall short again in 2019, are you all ready to find a guy to take the offense one step further while we still have all pro talent surrounding this position?
I would be looking at keeping this roster stacked and reloading with another rookie QB on a cheap contract if Dak doeant lead the team to a SB this year.

What about Zeke? Where was he vs the Rams?

Zeke versus the Rams has become the new whipping boy I see. What about "the QB touches the ball every play and is the most important person" argument I read over and over again when discussing why Dak needs to be paid? Does this mean we won all the other games because Zeke played well and lost that one because he didn't? Or are they still Dak's wins? Just trying to sort this logic out.

And for the record I do not blame Dak for that loss, nor do I blame Zeke. I blame the coaching and defense more than anything else. The Rams played to take Zeke out of the game (coaching did nothing to adjust), and Dak did what he was suppose to do when they did by taking advantage of it. The defense did nothing.

At this point I am just about as tired of hearing "what about Zeke versus the Rams" as much as I am tried or hearing about how much Dak sucks to the Nth level.

Kapernick is still on the market and staying in football shape and practice. Why not take a flier on him? He can't be half as bad as White or (especially) Rush.

I get there are still questions about Dak, but the Cowboys playoff loss against the Rams was more about the defense getting trucked than anything else.

The Rams set an NFL playoff record with 17 rushing first downs, and had the most rushing yards in franchise playoff history. Can't allow that and expect to win a road playoff game.
some more cool records for a JG led Dallas team !! lol:flagwave:

because nobody likes him , and I figure jerry doesnt like him either.
I don't understand why you would put politics in the way of improving your football team? On the same note I would sign Tebow if he was great but Tebow stinks as a QB.

People keep saying things like "Dak is good but not every team can have a Patrick Mahomes as their QB" and the funny thing is, the Chiefs had their own version of Dak and got rid of him.

My point is, the chiefs realized that having a "good enough" bus driving QB will never get you over the hump.

Why can't we be like the Chiefs and get our own Mahomes?

What if Zeke doesn't lead the team (ala vs Rams)? Since many here view him as our best offensive player, if not overrall.

If Zeke is the so called best RB in the league, why didn't he adjust and stop running up the middle, and use his power & speed on the outside after getting the ball.

Our Alex Smith was Tony Romo. Our Kaepernick is Dak. Just wait and watch.

Unfortunately there is only one mahomes.

If the cowboys could get another mahomes they probably would. So would the other 30 teams.

Well first I dont have a team ! lol wish I did !
Kap is the one that put politics in the way of his career, and look where it got him.
No team wants him because he would be a major distraction.
Also he was not that good, and now that he hasnt played in awhile, he is rusty and probably out of shape.
The key to a good QB is scouting the college teams for a mahomes type, then arrange it so you can get him when he comes out in the draft.

MaHomes played at texas A&m I think, and being in Texas, jerry should have had him as a top prospect and tanked so he could grab him.
But I dont think the jones boys saw mahomes as anything special. neither did mcClay or JG.
Other nfl teams didnt see a lot in him either, but KC did so they got him.
And instead of forcing him into their offense , they built a offense for him and presto he is super QB now.
I credit KC scouts, coaches , and owner for spotting him and then knowing how to use him.

Often times teams get a good qb but dont use them properly and Dak is one of those, that is forced into a offense rather than
have a offense built for him. JG has a set offense and he forced tony into it, and now dak, and it just doesnt work very well.
