In a 32 year span the average NFL team will:

Win 8 division titles

Go to the playoffs 12 of those seasons

Play in 4 conference championship games

Win 2 conference championships

Play in 2 Super Bowls

Win 1 Super Bowl

________________________

Since Jerry Jones has purchased the team the Cowboys have:

Won their division 11 times.

Gone to the playoffs 15 times

Played in four conference championships

Won three NFC championships

Played in three Super Bowls

Won 3 championships.

________________________________

They still have two more seasons to complete the 32 years averages.

I am not a big Jerry Jones fan. However, in all fairness, it cannot he said that his tenure as owner was unsuccessful. On the contrary, the Cowboys have been one of the more successful franchises during that period.

With that said, fans typically have the attitude expressed by a Janet Jackson song.....

“What have you done for me lately?”

These next two seasons close a window, not for the Cowboys, but, I suspect, for Jerry himself. This is why I believe these next two seasons are very special to him. I don’t know how this specifically translates to contracts and acquiring more talent but don’t rule out some very imaginative opportunities.

Since then, they're the Browns or Luons.

Since the Cowboys’ last SB, they’ve won 8 division titles, 4 playoff games, been to the playoffs 10 times and won 57% of their games.

In that same time, the Lions and Browns have combined for 0 division titles, 0 playoff wins, 5 playoff appearances and won 36% of their games.

You can let yourself out

This is the whole reason why I've said to go all out trying to win it all even if you cripple yourself trying. One super bowl is worth 10 bad seasons.

I give Jerry credit for hiring former teammateJimmy Johnson in '89 instead of one of his other buddies like Switzer or Holtz. Jimmy is the only reason we had any actual success during Jerry's tenure. We all know what happened once Jimmy and most of his players were gone and Jerry took full control.
Maybe Jerry will actually hire another real HC when Garrett is gone, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

With all of that "success" we still haven't gotten past the divisional round.

It's not what have they done, it's what have they done lately.

This is fuzzy math at its best. Most of the success was courtesy of Jimmy Johnson. Since 1995 the Cowboys have been one bottom dwellers in the NFL.

You are clearly in the camp that forgives Jerry for everything he has done to destroy the franchise over the past 25 years, simply because the first 5 years were pretty darn good.

It’s not fuzzy math, it is factual data. However, you are correct that the success was “frontloaded” when Jimmy was the coach.

With that said, I was looking at the entire body of work for the time period 1989 to present. The success of the 90’s have definitely been diluted by recent results but the same could be said of the first six Landry seasons and the last three Landry seasons, all losing seasons wrapped around a 20 year winning streak.

For decades, two of the worst teams were the Steelers and Patriots. For decades it was the Browns that led the NFL first in winning percentage.

Jerry had a great 6 year run when he bought the team. It has been nothing but mediocre since then.

But typical Dallas fans with the 5 Rings mentality. They are content with being mediocre as they just to past success for comfort. Meanwhile, since our last Super Bowl, every single team in the NFC has made the conference championship game except Detroit and Washington. Heck the Cardinals have even made the Super Bowl for crying out loud.

The rule of thumb in sports is you get a 5 year grace period after winning a title. Dallas won 3. That would be 15 years. It has been 24 or 25 years now since we even last went past the divisional round. That grace period ended a long time ago.

Quit trying to smear lipstick on the pig Jerry has turned the Cowboys into over the last 2 decades plus.

But he loves fans who will defend him at every turn and spin it to his favor.

If we had won 29 super bowls during that time, guess which year would be talked about most on here.....

Nope, just pointing out falsehoods. Jones has done plenty worth attacking, no need for posters to stoop to lies.
