Just a What If. 2016

I am wanting the opinions of the fans here on this. I know the season is coming, and what if is a stupid game. But I have changed my opinion about a piece of history in 2016 and wish to see if I am alone.

So,

What if:

In the last game against the Eagles in regular season what would the results have been if Jerry stepped in and advised Dak he has a future, but this is Tony's team, win, lose, or draw for the rest of this season.

1. Would the team (players) have accepted that?

2. They were already going to the play-offs. How would they have fared with a healthy Romo dropping dimes on his receivers and Zeke tearing the league a new rear end?

I was in favor of keeping Dak under center. You don't break a streak.

But upon reflection, I can't help thinking, Tony, knowing this was his swan song, and his ability to recognize the defenses and exploit them, he would have gotten the team - past those butt ugly Packers - to the NFC Championship game and taken the Cowboys to the Super Bowl.

I just see this moment in time, where the stars aligned, and Jones and The Red Headed cheerleader made the wrong move.

I think Tony would have handed the Patriots their butt in the first half, and then dissected them in the second to win it all.

Opinions?

You are just living in a fantasy land. Dak played well against the Packers and Tony would have done no better.

It’s was the right choice then . Yes I believe tony was a better qb but quite frankly I don’t believe tony would have made it to super bowl because I had no faith that he could have made it through regular season healthy

Now if your hypothetical includes tony staying healthy then perhaps but keep in mind that tony didn’t play defense and Rodgers at that point was regularly making the cowboys his biatch.

Dak played well against the packers . How the cowboys allowed that 4th down throw is beyond me

How heath don’t strip the ball when he sacked Rodgers also baffles me

And a healthy tony also don’t take into account we still have the patriot coaching staff vs cowboy staff

Talk about bringing a knife to a gunfight

Tony Romo retired because his back was done. Every team in the league knew it.
He would have been taken out in the first game.
This is why he hung them up. His ego wouldn't have let him walk away, if he thought he could survive.
LET IT GO FOLKS.
Let me add this, if it wasn't for Dez's jump ball catches, 2014 would not have ended in the playoffs.

Do you recall the series they put him in against the Eagles and they drove the field and scored. It was that game where he starts and takes over from there. Not the nano-second when he became healthy.

I didn't word that correctly in the OP.

It is what it is, The Learning Experience was priceless. And I don't like doing what ifs. Because there are just too many scenarios thousands.

You mean where he threw up Hail Marys missed a couple scoring on a couple. It's easy to play when there's no consequences

Tony wouldn't have made it to the championship game much less the Superbowl. He never got it done so what makes anybody think he would have got it done when his body couldn't take a hit anymore. Let it go guys, Dak is the QB now no matter how anyone feels about him. Might as well get behind him cause that's the QB for the next decade and stop these silly what ifs.

I do recall that TD and my message is the same tony at that point is an injury waiting to happen he only played 1 series if I recall and he played well but being exposed for an entire game I still unsure he stays healthy

Having said that if he could of the cowboys chances increase but the pack would still have found a way to win imo.

The loss was not in Dak but the defense

But we did see Dak go into GB that same year and beat them. I can't recall anytime Romo did.

Totally agree, I don't understand the reminiscing either. Heartbroken I guess.

I don't know if fantasy is the correct word. Wishing is more like it. Again I don't like doing the what if scenarios. But I do believe in history. And what did history show us about Tony.
Thanks for your interjection to help. But I'm quite certain the word I'm intending to convey is fantasy.

I don't think Romo would have played better. Dak had over 300 yards and 3 TDs that game and no picks.
