Caught a TD today after being in position to catch one last week... so likely the inside track to make that 6th and final WR spot... do you agree? So is Wilson out for sure now? What about Johnson and Austin?

I'd be surprised if they released Wilson. I think he's pretty much a lock unless he just sucks it up the last 2 games. We still have 4 years of control basically.

Devin Smith is at the top of the bubble list for me now though. I don't think Austin could have caught that ball in the endzone. I'm not sure what we do, I think it might come down to Smith and Austin since we seem to like Brown.

I wouldn't really have a problem with going Smith over Austin, even considering we have somehow managed to have absolutely horrendous punt returners. But, I'd say Austin is probably favored at this point. Next two games will probably be big. I'd try and get Smith some reps with the 1s in the dress rehearsal game.

Drives me nuts the return game could keep a talented but raw young WR with (possible) starting potential off the team when the league is clearly moving away from letting the return game have much impact. The FO has to see this.

He's got a serious issue being able to catch the ball. Drops everything.
You don't make decisions on WR because of fluke plays like drops. You absolutely don't. You look at the whole package... route running, speed, size, acceleration, leaping ability, ability to win routes early, contested catch ability, field awareness, heck even willingness to block before you get to drop rate. It's way down the totem pole.

Jon'Vea Johnson has sealed his doom with his severe case of the dropsies. He won't make the team. Bank on it.

I have been a big supporter of Johnson but he has to make some big plays in the next 2 games if he wants to make the roster. He gets open almost every play, I really wish he could run with Dak and the 1s next week so we can really see him in action.

Can you name me anything about Johnson that isn't above average other than the drops? Because if the "dropsies" are his only problem, he's a lock to make my team if I'm the GM.
I think if we keep 7 and let Brown or Austin go then Johnson makes it.

Cooper
Gallup
Cobb
Wilson

Smith
Austin
Brown
Johnson

I wouldn't keep Brown cause he hasn't been healthy and hasn't even practiced yet.

Or we can keep eight and go eight on the OL, 6 at LB and trade a corner (Brown?) maybe we move Olumba to CB2 since he's like a budding Richard Sherman type that KR loves, and Awuzie to the slot

I could see 8 on the OL but no way 8 receivers. 7 is pushing it and it will most likely be 6.

With Jones out no way I'm trading one of the top 4 corners. Olumba has looked good against 2nd and 3rd stringers, let's slow down before calling him Sherman. He has a long ways to go first.

We also have Mike Jackson who can take Jones' place on the outside if Jones misses any time. Jackson is 6'1"+, super long arms and fast and very talented.
