NFLPA looking into Cowboys’ direct dealing with players

On Wednesday, NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo pointed out a dynamic that the Dallas Cowboys haven’t tried all that hard to hide: Their propensity for cutting out the middleman and dealing directly with players who are represented by agents.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the NFL Players Association views the situation as “not good,” and currently is doing its due diligence before taking any official action and/or issuing any formal statement.

I have no doubt that the genesis of this came from Rocky Arceneaux and his group. More bad decisions coming from an inexperienced group that doesn't know what they're doing or realize what they've now started.

Unless Zeke changes agents, I'm not sure whether or not a deal can now get done in Dallas. I think things have just taken a really ugly turn.

I love what someone commented for the second linked story, Report: Cowboys have a habit of circumventing agents:

The owners are selfish and only care about theirs and the team’s inerests.

Agents, on the other hand, are humanitarians doing public service work on behalf of their client, the player.

I'm getting a lot of sarcasm from Bob. Just Bob.'s comment.

I don't know the fine print of the rules here but I don't think an organization is obligated to deal with an agent. I imagine it is up to the client to refrain from dealing with the organization and allowing the agent to handle matters. A simple, "talk to my agent" from the client should suffice.

It probably came from the comment I heard that if Jerry could just sit down with Elliott one on one for a few minutes they could probably come to an agreement and work something out.

I don’t recall if that came from Cowboys front office or media?

Let Zeke go. Just pick up fat CJ Anderson and let’s go to the NFC Championship game. We’ve seen it before.

I think Anderson signed with the Lions.

But as far as I know, Jay Ajayi is still out there. I'd definitely kick the tires on him.

I don't know of any other free agent running backs out there that have a Super Bowl ring and three 200-yard games in a single season.
