I had direct tv NFL Sunday ticket in 2015 because I live almost 500 miles away from Texas and thought I would get the 1pm and 4pm games

I got no cowboys game that year and when I inquired why they told me “it’s a local broadcast”

Mind you now I’m over 500 miles away from anything close to Texas but it’s a “local” broadcast

I had to slum it through the Browns jags, bucs and bengals for the year

I'm not following you 100% friend.
Just know that my career is as a cable industry executive. I won't give much more info on public forums but I have all the real numbers for 2 different major MSO's.

These websites are full of speculation.

Programmer cost have skyrocketed and this has been passed on to the customers. Cable tv isnt as profitable as you think. Profits come from other streams. Also operating cost are higher than you may think.
These streaming services are raising prices also. The networks will always find a way to get the profits they want. The public is in the dark.
Funny thing, dish offers the same with internet for less than half what I was paying direct tv. What do you think this is about? The Clinton murders or the Kennedy assinations? I'm not sure what U think ur hiding. Furthermore, if you can't provide valid evidence & justification, it's just an arbitrary opinion then. I think DISH , proves that direct tv is hosing ppl. And the numbers for the new satellite service , shows the same.

I am of the understanding you don't need DTV for the Ticket. Just curious how anyone that has it feels about it.
You have to have direct tv. Only way not to is to live somewhere that doesn’t have the ability to get a dish like a apartment. Also college students can get a stream package.

My local station in Missouri now carries the Cowboys.

I'd look at the Reddit streaming sites. Iv used them all preseason. They work well.
I'm in the Springfield area And got every game last season. I'm guessing you are, also?
One big problem at the moment...I have DTV and their Fox channel, which televises most of the Cowboys games, is currently blacked out. I'm going to have to figure a workaround for that problem.

There is some truth to this. People naturally want to slam the cable provider because they are the provider but the networks greed plays a big factor into this.

I'm gonna laugh in 3 years when all these cheap streaming services are over 100 bucks and offer half the channels the cable provider gave. Wonder if these same people will blame the stream provider or say "hmmm maybe the networks are manipulating prices to maximize profits"

There is one thing I have noticed with using Sling for streaming live games is that there is a lag, sometimes a significant one. This Reddit thing seem on point or am I just going to have to get used to streaming lag?
Yeah, there’s a bit of a lag on Reddit too.

Ignore your phone if you have buddies like mine who will gloat IMMEDIATELY after a big play.

I only keep DTV because of the Cowboys. Without it, I wouldn't be able to see them.

They will blame the stream providers unfortunately.
The american consumer isnt that bright. We have a nation that looks at a place to point the finger and never takes the time to ask why something is the way it is. We just find the easiest target and blame them.
The networks know this. They have been playing the consumer for a while and most still don't figure it out.

Rebroadcast rates have jumped by more than 50% across the board in the last 5 years. Cable companies cannot pass this increase on to their customers dollar for dollar. The end result is the cable operators need to cut back in other ways to maintain profits. Equipment rental and sports tier surcharges, local tv surcharges ect. These are not bringing the cable company more profit. They are only allowing a similar profit margin since most tv service revenue pass through to the networks anyway.

It won't end. This is what american's do. We blame the health insurance industry instead of the healthcare cost. (different subject because the biggest failure of the insurance industry is the inability to control cost)

I finally decided to dump Directv after 15 years. Ever since they went to AT&T, their service has gotten worse and the prices just as bad. Just decided to go with Sling for now, but thinking about Fubo, but I think it is more expensive. Maybe even PSVue. Suggestions?

Now in order to watch the few Cowboys games that are not nationally televised, has anyone had any experience with the stand-alone Sunday Ticket--via say, Amazon Firestick?

I jail broke my Firestick. Ridiculous amount of content. Football stream through Sports Devil work but are spotty. Prefer the Reddit route sometimes. Google jailbreaking the FS.

Congrats. I did it when Goodell decided to destroy the NFL and when ATT bought out DirecTV. No doubt the service got so much worse. I have Netflix and Hulu live. I love it. I no longer can get the Cowboys on locally here in WI but I don't miss it like I thought I would. The NFL really has lost me. I only watch when the Cowboys are on locally. Other than that I get my FF stats on the internet.

i see. so the vpn allows u to use any option due to lack of ip address...
VPN allows you to "appear" to be a person OUTSIDE THE US...which allots you all of the nice perks of NFL Game Pass INTERNATIONAL (Watching live).

I learned about this being stationed in Germany. When I came back to the states in 2015, I worried that I couldn't continue with my "European Privilege", but then took a chance with a "pay for" VPN spoofing a euro-IP. After 4 years spoofing all kinds of non-US IP's, I can confidently state that if you get a decent VPN and create an account into: "https://www.nflgamepass.com/en", you're golden. I know it's a risk trusting a random on the interweb, but that's all I've tried to push. Just do what I said and sign up for the "7-day free trial". If it doesn't work out...bail out. Just trying to to throw down a rope to people looking to escape the Monopolistic Sunday Ticket BS. There's a middle-ground to Sunday Ticket and the Reddit-streams/rabbit ears stuff.
