Thats nice. They both have to take responsibility. ?!?!?

Except both of them are NOT the DC. That job is Marinelli's.

Another uncommon excuse for the Defense.

There is only ONE boss on the defense.

If there are two, then we have bigger problems.
nope like the rest of the players on team all tke responsibility for poor execution, the coaches on a whole are a STAFF ie TEAM and all have responsibility's for each group,, sorry but the pass game coordinator got gashed and thats KR..no name WR group ripped the DBs apart sans the goal line stands..

they both need to work on a better plan next week because APis angry he didnt play, gashed us last year, Guice is good, and the Washington D is bit better then the giants, they have pass rush so we will run more, scores wotn be so easy, so our D better bow up more this week for sure..

that doesnt make any sense.

the Boss is the one who takes the heat when someone messes up.

You obviously are not a boss, or have never worked somewhere where the chain of command matters.

A lot of fans try to use the "2 bosses on defense" excuse to cover for Marinelli. Same deal with the play calling.

If Marinelli is this weak, allowing anyone to free lance the play calling, not taking responsibility for the Defense, then we need a change at DC.

This could be why Hot Rod was 0-16 as HC in Detroit.

TEAM...………..im saying cuttings RM would not have changed this result one bit..get it? move on.. doesnt matter if RM takes the heat , KR , the LB core etc etc all didnt have a good plan and didnt get the most out of their players this day.. they all are responsible.. who cares who is the boss..

move on to Washington..

ok guys slow your role.. its ironic every time we have a bad defensive game its on RM and good, its KR..

they both call plays,

RM is DC heavy hand in overall game plan and coaches the front LB/DL and KR is the Passing game coordinator..

they both failed other then Goal line and keeping points down.. the WR/TE of the giants tore open this DB set and the run game tore open the dline..

they both did not get the most out of their players at home first game..
if you think removing RM automatically makes the defense play differently yesterday , you do not understand how the coaching is broken up game week and game day.. they all have to take responsibility for the poor performance,,
You are absolutely correct. It's going to take at least a season offseason for a different coordinator to put a plan in place.

COME ON MAN!!

KR was the DC his last season in Seatle was he not? they looked terrible or at least ahd very down year and he was FIRED.. No guarantee whatsoever this is a better defense without RM etc..we will know soon and I agree as most would we've needed a new voice on both sides Scotts fired, Garetts grown tiresome all with a non aggressive sit back approach..

Maybe KR would be more aggressive and successful but no way am I that confident in the move like most were with KM being the new way young OC.. one game it worked out..Ill need to see a lot more then game 1 against the giants at home..

Yeah, sometimes you have to put the old dog down. As painful as that might be. I'm seeing nothing from Methuselah's "Rushmen" and the same issues of being unsound versus the run that cost us last year. The game passes everyone by eventually, and I think our 'defensive coordinator' in name only has had his day.

Time to go.

Their game plan was to focus on the run, not on pass rushing.

Other than the 59 yard run, Barkley had 61 yards on all other rushes.

Marinelli won't be the DC next year. His contract will be over and KR is already functioning as the DC.

I never heard that was official from last year or today, for any one from the team.
It was from someone on here, ore a media person.

I never seen a link otherwise either. Against from the team.
Marinelli said it in an interview last season.

my problem with Marinelli is terrible DT play from the time he has been here ,none of his pets cats have worked out.Teams double Collins and can open huge holes because Woods is worse than a JAG.

This is in a Bob Sturm article on The Athletic, I can't link it because its behind a pay wall -

Adding to that was Kris Richard being acquired from Seattle to basically coordinate the defense. (The Cowboys still list Rod Marinelli as the defensive coordinator despite all parties admitting that Richard now calls the defense and seems to do most of the actual coordinating while Marinelli seems to handle coaching the defensive line as a smaller group. For this reason – fair or unfair, we are changing the name of this series to the “Richard Report”).
@jazzcat22

I "think" that they offered Kris Richard the DC job this year and that he declined in respect to Marinelli. KR knows that Marinelli's contract will be up.

He also knows that he'll get the DC job unless he is offered an Head Coaching job.

All 3 interviews he KR has last year were for Head Coaching positions, not DC positions.

I would be curious to see KR's salary with the Cowboys. I suspect that it is already close to a D-Coordinator type salary.

How many constitute "All other rushes"? He averaged over 10 yards per rush for the day. Our best defense was the fact that the Giants offensive coordinator was a fool that hit away from his best playmaker. We sure never had an answer.

A year too late.

I would bet Richard's salary is at that level or higher. They had to give him an incentive to take the secondary coach position when he left Seattle and Dallas is known for paying some of the highest salaries to assistants.

Yards/Carry historically requires a minimum of 15 carriers per game to have statistical relevance. Anything less and the standard deviation is too large to be relevant (i.e. Bad RB have a large number of high ypc games when the carries are low and good RBs have many low ypc games when the carries are low).

Barkley
  • Barkley had 10 x 61 + 1 x 59 (carries x yards).
  • Barkley's receiving stats were down.
    • He averaged 45 receiving yards/game last season but only had 19 in this game.

Like I said, our top defender was the Giants' OC.

Who knows what this staff will look like in 2020. I mean if they make the playoffs and make a run, Garrett will get extended, Moore will likely get a raise, etc. But if that happens, this staff needs to move on from Marinelli IMO. Maybe get a new DL voice in here to shake some things up.
