I thought about making this post just an animated gif of Kellen Moore dancing on Linehan’s grave. Unfortunately I don’t have the photoshop skills.

Linehan’s philosophy was to execute and make the opponent stop you. That became way too predictable. What we saw yesterday was Kellen Moore playing chess with a lot of talented pieces. Fans miss the subtle things like presnap movement and the play calling mix, but this was like we have been watching beer league softball for a couple of years and suddenly Bruce Lee walked out on the diamond and killed everyone with Ninja Stars.

Another big factor is that Dallas doesn’t play its starters in preseason so the execution by both lines really wasn’t there. And even then, we dominated a Giants team that isn’t good but is still much improved over last year. Half the threads after the game have been nitpicking something that will improve as the season goes on, remember how awful this team looked in its opener last year in Carolina. The problem fixed itself with reps last year, a lot of these little things will this year too.

Kris Richard played contain the entire game and then went to Prevent early, but we still saw glimpses of a new weapon on defense – the LB blitzes. Jaylon and LVE are Pro Bowl level players and when all of the DL are healthy, those LB blitzes are going to be a big factor.

Randall Cobb is a better player than Cole Beasley, he is also a much better fit for Kellen Moore’s scheme. The issue has always been health, cross your fingers he stays healthy.

Dak has more weapons now but he has also improved. Fixing the OL solved most of the issues he had last year but look for him to go to a new level this year. And BTW, when is the last time you saw a QB run, look for contact and stiff arm a defender?

LVE and Jaylon Smith will both go to the Pro Bowl. LVE is clearly more comfortable in his assignments this year, its crazy that a quiet game from the guy is 10 tackles, a half sack, a PD and two QB hits.

Rookie 3rd down back Tony Pollard had a good blitz pickup yesterday. That doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it is.

KR is the passing game Coordinator and is only partly but responsible for 500 yards NO ints etc RM is the DC and the blitzing would be on RM would it not LOL going into prevent and getting destroyed by JAG wrs..im not in agreement being positive about anything the defense did but hold down the score but I think we can thanks the giants coaches for that LOL

I can agree with this but is it all season or as an aging player will cobb have drop off or injury later in the year?

Yes for one game thats the case..:rolleyes:o_O

Maybe both good enough but I doubt selectors will allow that, unless ones starter and ones a last minute replacement..

one of the next games, we will see Dak hit our FB on one of those wheel routes for huge yardage downfield. Its going to happen. The guy is too athletic for a FB and actually, should be used at TE as well.
Olawale was a college TE, but at 6-1 he's just too small as an inline TE. That's why the Cowboys converted him to FB. Raiders stole him off the Cowboy practice squad as a rookie.

Richard actually calls the defense. Rod is happy to oversee the DL.

I saw the Pollard blitz pick up and it was nice. Also saw Cobb doing some nice blocking. My biggest surprise was the amount of snaps Olawale took. That was something I didn't expect and I wonder if those snaps go down as Zeke gets on the field more. If Olawale's role doesn't change, then I'd expect him to get the ball a few times down the road. I also thought Jourdan Lewis had a real nice game that hasn't been mentioned much.
we did complain last year Olalwale wasn't utilized AT all by SL when he has some skills.. nice to see KM tried this and gave defenses more ie MOORE to think about..

Richard calls the plays, its been in numerous articles and Aikman says it on the broadcasts. We don't know who develops the weekly scheme but its likely a combination of Richard or Marinelli.

We had a thread calling for Marinelli to be fired after a game we lead by 25 points in the 3rd quarter. I'm allowed one positive thread for fairness!

Good assessment Kaiser! Thats what I noticed too. I want to see how this team fares against better teams but for opening game the offense looked really good and the defense wasnt as bad as the yardage makes it look.

Moore totally fooled me on the Witten TD play, totally thought that was a play to Zeke, was so pleasantly shocked, “we fooled someone!”

I thought Zeke had a much better game than he is being given credit for. He had his longest run of the day (15 yards) erased by a ticky-tack penalty, which would have upped his YPC to 4.85 had it stood, and I thought the holding call he got hit with was just a normal cut block. The drop he had on the in route was bad, but otherwise he still looked like Zeke, even after a long layoff.
