Just goes to show the defensive line may be pretty deep when a first and second round pick is sitting on game day....

We just have too much talent at DT to expect any rookie to get on the field.

We've reached a point where you wonder if we'll just trade our draft picks for future picks when we may not be so talented.

I looked up rookie performances this morning of every 1st and 2nd round picks from the 2019 draft. Surprisingly for a supposedly "weak draft" there were a lot of rookies starting in Week 1. Trysten Hill was the first pick I got to that was inactive on Sunday. Every other 1st/2nd round pick that was healthy made their team's gameday roster in Week 1. Wow....

That is incorrect.

Tytus Howard practiced all week but was inactive.

Greg Little & LJ Collier were inactive. I didn't look up their practice status.

I didn't look at players past Hill to see which ones were injured.

2019 Draft Picks rounds 1 to 3 that didn't play in game 1:
11 CIN Jonah Williams
15 WAS Dwayne Haskins
19 TEN Jeffery Simmons
23 HOU Tytus Howard
29 SEA L.J. Collier
32 NWE N'Keal Harry
37 CAR Greg Little
42 DEN Drew Lock
45 NWE Joejuan Williams
58 DAL Trysten Hill

67 SFO Jalen Hurd
68 NYJ Jachai Polite
69 JAX Josh Oliver
71 DEN Dre'mont Jones
75 GNB Jace Sternberger
79 LAR David Long
80 CLE Sione Takitaki
82 TEN Nate Davis
83 PIT Justin Layne
84 KAN Khalen Saunders
85 BAL Jaylon Ferguson
86 HOU Kahale Warring
87 NWE Damien Harris
90 DAL Connor McGovern
92 NYJ Chuma Edoga
97 LAR Bobby Evans
100 CAR Will Grier
101 NWE Yodny Cajuste

I hope they didn't draft Trysten because he was took time to listen to Marinelli war stories during scouting process...real War Daddy don't need motivational speeches...

I never have any expectations for any rookie in their first year regardless where they're selected....

Those three were inactive due to injuries.

A first-round draft pick, Howard was out with a broken finger.

"Yes, very close," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said. As for their status Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he said: "Yep, there's a chance.

Greg Little had a concussion

LJ Collier was injured as well. Ankle injury that caused them to rule him out.

Cooper - Hit
Hill - Inactive. Immature reach. Reeks of bust.
McGovern - Injured
Pollard - Ok, he's awesome.
M. Jackson - Couldn't make the team
J.Jackson - Still here. Looks decent.
Wilson - Preseason star. We'll see.
Weber - Didn't stick
Jelks - See Weber

I'm not that impressed by that group to be honest.

Which speaks VOLUMES if we are equating Hill to Taco, since we all know Taco's standing
Taco had a good preseason put on tape for other teams to see, so I suspect these two are being denied opportunities for different reasons. Taco is being preserved for trade bait.

Some rookies make it, some don't, but I can just imagine if this board existed during Aikman's rookie year. The rush to judgment is comical, and would've had people yelling "bust!" after his first game.

The yelling would've gone on all season as he stumbled to 9 TDs, 18 INTs, and 53% completions. "Steve Walsh!" would've become the battle cry. :muttley:

I didn’t expect Hill to come in and make a huge immediate impact. Get him some experience this year and have a great offseason. We will likely lose Collins this year.

Howard was at Full Practice Status ALL Week.

I already said I didn't look at the practice status after Howard.

On a serious note, the bust rate around the league on DTs is probably as high as QBs. Jmo, we’re better off spending that money in free agency as opposed to using draft capital
